POLL: Eye Makeup Remover

brndas...@aol.comnospam (Brenda)
Hi All!
What brand of eye make up remover does everyone use?
I ususally use the Clinique Rinse Off but have never bought it – for the
longest time they included it in their sample promotions and I stockpiled it.
I ran out recently and bought a L'Oreal brand and hate it – it doesn't work
without significant scrubbing.
I wear waterproof mascara this time of year as my eyes tear in the cold but
never had a problem getting it off with the Clinique. It's more expensive than
the drug store brands but now I'm starting to think that it might be worth it
to spend the extra bucks.
Anyhow, I'm looking for suggestions!
Thanks!
Brenda

Albolene. Its the best thing I have ever used and I too wear waterproof
mascara that is very hard to remove but this stuff works! You can find it at
your drugstore. Drugstore.com sells it as well. Its inexpensive and a jar of
it last forever.

Mary Kay...great stuff and totally non–greasy...you can reapply your
eye makeup right after using it.

cetaphil. I've been using this forever.

I don't use waterproof mascara because it's too hard to get off.. but
for my non–waterproof mascara, I love Almay Non–Oily Eye Makeup Remover
pads. I've used them for years.

Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil. This is my all–time favorite cleanser and every
time this thread resurrects itself, I have pipe up! :)
So easy to use and really elimates any need to wipe, drag, or otherwise pull
at the tender skin around the eyes.
Shu Uemura recently put out limited edition bottles of their Cleansing Oil
that feature the art of Takeshi Murakami (the same artist of LV fame). If
you like anime––or just limited edition items––you need to get this! They
cost the same as the regular bottles.

Lancome Bi–Facil (or something like that) is not bad, if you like non–creamy
removers, it is like a lotion. I tried nearly every remover L'Oreal ever had
and hated them all with a passion <g>

I really like the Almay pads. Inexpensive, effective, and gentle!
I like to use either Earth Science Chamomile and Green Tea gel eye makeup
remover (it's really gentle), Albolene, Jergens All Purpose Skin Cream (pink
container...it's like a cold cream), or Rite Aid or Pond's Cold Cream.
Occasionally, if I'm in a bind, I'll *carefully* use Noxema with cotton, but
that's some strong stuff and you have to be careful.
Noxema is very moisturizing and my lashes and brows seem to regard it as a
nice moisture drink, especially in Winter.
Occasionally if I'm in a *serious* hurry and don't have on too much shadow
or liner with my mascara, I'll just use the Olay Facials or the St. Ives
Cleansing Cloths to wipe off my eye makeup.
The cucumber (smell great!!!!) cleansing cloths from Boot's work nicely for
that too, but I have to wait to hear from my friends in England to get
those. They always buy or bring them and lots of Rimmel eye makeup, too.
They like to use the cucumber cloths on the airplane when it gets too warm
and stuffy.

Ditto! Now I have to go find it! The only drugstore in town in CVS so I'm

I used to use the old fashioned Nivea for many years and it worked
really well. It left a little bit of mosture on the eye area which I
think helped with skin tone. I now use Miresse mascara that comes off
with water in little shards. You then don't need eyemakeup remover as
you can wash it off in the shower.
A few years ago I used some kind of Clinique mascara that was
impossible to get off. It stained all my washclothes and I swear of
few of them still have black stains.

Definitely Albolene. Cheap, effective, readily available. Doesn't
irritate the delicate skin around the eye, terrific for removing
waterproof mascara. I also use it as Step 1 of my double face
cleansing process.

I concur with others that the L'Oreal product is just so–so. I'm able to put
up with it, but I also don't wear waterproof mascara. Before that I was
using Lancome Bi–Facil which was definately better, but I was looking for
something less expensive. Thanks for the Albolene recs, I will try it. This

The L'oreal works for me with some mascaras, but when I go swimming and use
*waterproof* mascara or if I use a lot of mascara or creme (non–powder) eye
shadow, it doesn't work for me at all and is a waste. I liked that it hand
no scent and was gentle, however. It's just not versatile enough to work
with a myriad of different eye products and that's a bummer.

"Zedar" <coolhun...@nospam.net>
I don't like L'Oreal eye makeup remover either.
Abolene is great at removing makeup, but it is really greasy and I don't
like dipping my hand in.
I don't use waterproof mascara, so I'm not sure how it would work on that,
but I use DHC Deep Cleansing Oil to take off my makeup, including my
eyeliner and mascara, and follow with my regular cleanser. It works better
for me than any eye makeup remover I have used, although I haven't tried
Clinique's or Lancome's, which a lot of people seem to adore.

I just used Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover for the first time, and am
quite pleased. It worked quickly and easily, without stinging or oily
residue. The bottle also says that it removes waterproof mascara.

I used to use Lancome's Bifacils (blue–tinted bottle/product of two
compunds; must be shaken before use), which worked very well on waterproof
mascara, but was pricy. Over the last few years I've been using
Clinique's Take the Day Off (purple bottle), which is essentially the same
product, just more of it and at a cheaper price. It removes waterproof
mascara quickly, and more importantly, is non–greasy, so I could reapply
if I wanted to. It also works great at removing long–lasting lipcolor.

When my pocketbook is full, it's Fresh's Soy mu remover. It's good b/c
it also acts like a treatment for the skin under the eyes.
Almay's non–oily remover is a very good drugstore brand.

I like the Almay non–oily remover pads for a quick fix, but they don't
seem to get all the makeup off. I often wake up the next day with
smudges. For a more thorough job, I use the Mary Kay non–oily remover.
