What I *bought* today

Melissa Wagner <meli...@melissa–wagner.com>
I had a peaceful afternoon at Valley Fair mall...it actually was very
nice, whereas normally by the time I leave I am nearly running people
over to get out of there.
Nordstrom:
Smashbox "Shoot" lipgloss
Sephora:
Lorac "Delicious" Lip Polish (I may have finally found the color of
lippie that I've been searching for for nearly 10 years now)
Smashbox Cooling Tint
Macy's:
INC chocolate brown lace–trimmed cami
INC red tie–front shrug
"Claire in SF" <clairi...@aol.com>
A satchel style handbag at the Kenneth Cole boutique and had a nice chat
about the retail industry with a perfectly decent SA who was also kind
enough to provide fragrance samples of Black (for men and for women). I've
never tried KC fragrances and am looking forward to wearing them, and I'll
even try the Reaction scent which is for men but seems like it might be
unisex enough for me to wear.
The boutique is being remodeled soon to eliminate apparel but instead they
will carry the full line of handbags and shoes.
I am thinking of returning to get this tote which is marked down from $60 to
$25. It has a zipper top, size pockets, an inside zipper pocket, and a firm
bottom.

So much for "Moratorium!" Walmart....makes...me...buy....stuff j/k ;)
I picked up a few things at walmart, including:
*CG Midnight Mauve l/s & nailpolish set
*Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transluscent
*Simply Basic body spray in Vanilla Sugar Cookie (yum!!)...big bottle is
labelled 25% more for only $3.50, no wonder I don't go to BBW very often!
*Revlon Lippes in Plum Wet, Goldpearl Plum, and Mauve So Moist
*Neutrogena Shimmer Sheers in Rapture (to use as blush, I hate using powder
blushes as of lately and I replaced my Cashmere Perfect blush with this instead
coz of the "sparkle effect" the CP blush had)
*Crest Whitening Expressions toothpaste in Cinnamon Rush
*V05 shampoo/conditioners in Strawberry and also Key Lime (these both smell
divine!! esp the strawberry)
*2 packages of Just My Size undies
*4 packages of Hanes tanktops (for my upcoming trip to NC and also just to wear
underneath stuff)
*1 tube of Cashmere Perfect foundation (this is my 3rd tube, loving this
stuff!) in Classic Ivory
*heather grey plain sweatshirt (this looked comfy!)
Then I went to the local "men's" type store and bought 2 pairs of long
underwear (Fleet Farm) and also went to Mark Pauls Big & Tall and bought a
black POLO logo T–shirt and a navy hoodie (plain).
I know that y'all are talking about clothes being hard to buy when you need to
shop in the "girls" section, but it's just as bad when a 3X is kind of snug
around the bust, but a 4X is too big. So goes the theory with sizes 1, 2, 3 as
another poster had mentioned.
I'm just happy with my haul :–)

Last night at Walgreen's:
A N.Y.C. Complete Color Palette in Basic Brown. This is a very inexpensive
brand that I just buy to play with but I enjoy it. This has perfectly
acceptable colors; nothing outlandish in all – lips, cheeks, and eyes. I'm
not sure how long the eyeshadows will last though, but if applied over UD
Primer Potion, maybe they will be o.k. Kind of a dark peachy brown blush, a
bronze with a slight shimmer for lips, a rose/brown with slight shimmer for
lips, a dark and a light plum shimmer for eyes, a rose/brown shimmer for
eyes, and a light peach shimmer. The palette is about 2 1/2" X 3 1/2".
$4.99
N.Y.C. False Eyelashes – Woo–Hoo!! I can't wait to try these in the right
situation. I did briefly try one last night and, even though they
supposedly have self–adhesive, I think I'm going to need some glue to keep
them on. $.99
Revlon Age Defying Foundation in Buff Beige $6.50 at half price. I bought
this for my mom who loves everything to do with foundations and has been
perfectly impressed with this old version of Revlon Age Defying for a while.
I might have missed something but I'm not sure what the diff is between the
old version and the new. Anyway, I thought half–price was a good deal on
even the old one.
Albolene ~$11 I haven't tried this before and rarely wear waterproof makeup
but figured it will be good to have on hand. I have no waterproof makeup
remover.
Jamie
What I would have bought last night – A L'Oreal Glam Shine lip gloss in 003
Hot Couture. I bought this about a year and a half ago at K–Mart and have
never seen it since. It is a nude colored gloss that I love. I think it
was on a display that was introducing the product. I think I'll go look at
their site to see if it's still made.

Had to return to Nordstroms today. I bought a pair of Donald Pliner
black sandals (has silver metal grommets on the straps) the other day.
The salesman mixed up the shoes (tried on 3 different pairs) and I had
a mismatched pair in the box. First time this has ever happened to me.
Got that corrected and then browsed the handbags where I bought a
Helen Welsh light aqua very soft leather satchel–type handbag. They
had gorgeous colors: a pretty yellow, a pink, the aqua and I believe a
green. So many pretty handbags on display in Nordstroms!

Last weekend, actually:
Allison Burns chocolate brown "Faithfull" bag. I was interested in it,
had never seen it in Dallas "in person" but just happened to run into it
at a kid's clothing store called "Animal Crackers"! Go figure! Lots of
cute clothing for little girls (I was shopping for a friend's baby
shower) but they also carry a lot of higher end bags (like Isabella
Fiore, for example) and adult "toy" jewelry like Tarina Tarantino and
some funky rhinestone pieces. I wasn't expecting to find the bag I've
been ogling online there and I wanted to see and feel it before buying.
I'm in love and may purchase more colors online.
Today, during my lunch break:
Had a tough time tracking down Sperry Topsiders in Dallas, for some
reason and since I grew up in Andover, MA, this was downright
blasphemous! Foley's stores all over the DFW area are listed on the
Sperry site but went I tried two of them, they not only had no Sperry
shoes but didn't know what a "boat shoe" was, even though I was willing
to check out other brands. Double blasphemy! Went to "Boater's World", a
discount boating and fishing store, figuring they'd at least know what a
"boat shoe" is. JACKPOT! Not only did they have the pair I wanted but
they had, they were discounted and for some colors, they were marked
down from $79.99 to $9.99! I was shocked. I got out of there with one of
the original dark brown/leather lace pairs for $49.99, a blue Nubuck
(with dark brown leather details) pair of the tassle loafers for $9.99
and two–toned pink pair with leather laces for $9.99! I racked up some
serious Cofarbucks.

I loved them, too. The "problem" is that I don't need the tote, lol. It is
simply a great design in fab colors and an unbelievable price. (At least I
love the leather satchel I did buy in case I don't make it back to snap up

smaller version of this bag mixed up. This is a roomy tote, and would make a
nice diaper bag.

During the last week –
I E–Bayed two Coach Signature Tote Purses – One in Hot Pink and the other in
regular colors. They should both be arriving any day now and as I posted in
another thread, I will probably put the pink one up for sale again on E–Bay.
This is not the way I would have chosen to do it, just the way it happened.
I was particularly interested in the brown/tan one but also fell in love
with the pink and I ended up bidding on them at the same time with the pink
auction ending about 12 hours before the other. I obtained the pink one at
a good price (about half MSRP) and was happy until the bidding on the
brown/tan one was driven up to full price literally during the last 10
minutes (and by someone who hadn't previously bid on the bag at all – but
that's another story). I kept asking myself how much I really wanted it and
I guess it turned out that I wanted it pretty badly! Anyway, the two bags
combined were just over $500 (gasp!). I will get rid of the pink one
because I cannot stomach paying so much for 2 bags together! But I can't
wait to get my hands on them. Love this tote!
My casual dinner outfit for VIP dinner at Amelia Island – Liz Claiborne lime
green 3/4 length sleeve button front microfiber blouse and tweed woven
slacks by Judith Hart. The blouse is made to be worn out with a split–side
hem and brings out a non–existant color match in the slacks. At first
glance you say "There's no way that color blouse matches those pants", but
upon further inspection, you quickly decide that they match quite nicely and
are pleasing to the eye. I wasn't able to quickly find pictures of both
(not that it's important) but it does surprise me since they are both are
new items. The pants may be 'old lady' pants because they have elastic
insets (yes horrid, but wonderful to those of us with small waists and
larger hips [not unbelievably large–just hourglass]). There was a jacket to
match the pants but it did less than nothing for me so I didn't even
consider it. I'm not really one for strictly matching outfits anyway. I
like a little surprise. And shoes – well, I just spent 30 minutes looking
for a link to the shoes. They're tan slingback Enzo Angiolini's with a
2–inch heel, a square toe and tassels. They're beautiful!
Last but not least, Dr. Brandt's Microdermabrasion in a Jar. My first order
of this item as I had been using a deluxe sample that I received with a
Sephora order probably 6 or 7 months ago. It was quite a sample and I
deemed it worthy of re–order.

Yes I am liking the Jane Dream Cream! I have been looking for it since you'd

On a side note, good news about my Demeter Sugar Cookie spray that i was so
disappointed about. I had put the bottle away for swap or sale later on, and
noticed today that my nightgown sleeve from yesterday (i had sprayed it on
yesterday morning) smells really good! Sort of like a cookie, sort of like a

needs several hours to mellow out... I'll scent my scarves and flannels with

EEK! Super happy that I finally got my hands on:
*Fendi pink lambskin leather "Vanity" purse
If you go to the Fendi website and click on "English", the model on the
homepage is holding the exact bag I bought. I am so happy with it! It's
the perfect size, and comes with a detachable shoulder strap (though I
personally love the clutch look better). I like the mirror on the front of
the bag (thus, the origin of the style name, haha!)––as the salesperson told
me, "Eliminates the need to carry a compact!" Of course, we AFers know
better, right? :)
The only thing I'm worried about is getting it dirty. The leather is so
incredibly soft and supple, but the pale pink color lends itself to easy
soiling. I took a look at the different sizes and styles they had, but this
one was by far my favorite. I think it's a great bag to carry me through
spring and summer as well.

Just a couple of target items to tide me over in this "don't feel like winter,
but it's not spring yet" period...
black/white herringbone skirt (IM) $12 (this is the same shape as the
seersucker ones that I wore to death last summer – but more of a denim weight)
soft cotton cardigans in navy & pale yellow $8 each
striped ribbon belt in shades of pink/blue $6
black leather gloves on sale for $3
cary
KMS <badgerda...@puttyhead.combustible>
From Target:
– Merona white trench coat, single–breasted with a half belt in back and
belt details at cuffs. http://tinyurl.com/6thej
I had to go to two stores to find this in my size but I was determined
to have it for my spring wardrobe! It's in danger of looking like a lab
coat and I'm not thrilled with the buttons, which are faux horn, so I
think I'll head to the fabric store tomorrow in search of more
interesting buttons.
– Mossimo pale aqua sleeveless top with faux wrap bodice and a wide
strip of satin under the bust – so cute!
The first Target I went to had a ton of IM on sale, including *one* pair
of the herringbone pants in my size. I should have grabbed them. I'm
going back tomorrow but I fear they'll be gone. They also had the blazer
in my size but I just can't decide if I'd get much wear out of it.

Sally Hansen Diamond Lip Treatment in Antique Bronze
Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Polish in Antique Bronze
Revlon Color Juice Lip Gloss in Passion Fruit Squeeze
Rimmel Nail Polish in Coral Brown
Jamie
Oh, and
Rimmel Vinyl Lip in MMMMM! I am SO into lip glosses right now! I thought
for a long time they were only for persons younger than myself. I've since
come around.
My mom and I were out for most of the day yesterday (she, on a fixed income,
enabling my purchases) and we must have switched lip glosses 4 or 5 times.
Let's see. We used LORAC lip polish in Tickle, Tutti Dolci gloss in
Chocolate Fondue, Almay Whipped Gloss in Nude Reflections (I LOVE this
stuff!), the aforementioned Revlon Color Juice, and, I think, the above SH
Lip Treatment in Antique Bronze.

Last Night actually....
Johnson & Johson's Milk Wash (for Body) in the baby care section. This was
discounted down to $1.25 for the 9 oz. bottle at Safeway. I hope they're
maybe just repackaging it. If they discontinue it, I'll be ticked. It's
really gentle, moisturizing and nice. I'm thinking of going back to get more
since it was a close drive, yet there were only 3 more bottles left on the
shelf, so they might be gone.
Physician's Formula Planet Blush with Blush and Bronzer all in one bubble
shaped container and the application brush pops out of the middle. I will
likely use my own brushes, though.
L'oreal Plumb Eyeliner...it's called Micro something or other and comes with
it's own little sharpener. It's a thinner pencil than most others and it's
supposed to give a more precise point if you use the sharpener it comes
with. Haven't had a plumb eyeliner in a long time, so I decided to go with
it. Plumb looks nice with my brown eyes.
Olay Moisturerinse in the normal to dry. Used it this AM after shaving my
legs. It's convenient and nice. Smells good, too. The $2.00 coupon helped.
I've ignored this product for months until I saw the coupon in the paper.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (I LOVED this film!!! Saw it in the
theater when it first came out. Plus, it has my boyfriend Mark Ruffalo in
it, so I have to support all of his artistic endeavors now, don't I?) for
keeps and not for rental.

Noooo, and believe me, I made it known! I have an hour tonight while #2 daughter
has her French horn lesson, so maybe I'll have some luck then. So many new
spring shoes to choose from. One scary thing is that the girls have grown so
much we're within 1 size of each other. I won't let that stop me, lol.

Ob–af: Grumble. Northgate Nordstrom doesn't carry Kiehl's. Will have

Great idea! Also a Sephora . . . . and I haven't been to UVillage since
the Anthropologie opened (I think their clothes are too small for me,
but I love looking at their styles). As for Magnuson, I really like
the small dog offleash area, which the PI reported as being permanent
now – I sure hope so! If it's ok with you, let's take this to email to
make arrangements. Any other local AF'ers out there with dogs?
We could start or end the outing at Laura Bee's – she's very dog–
friendly.

Saturday night, actually, while out treating One to a new video game
for working so hard and doing so well at school ... 2 pair of shoes
from DSW. Pair 1 were black Aerosole flats, round toes, with an
elastic "X" as the only decorative element. I've had a lot of trouble
finding a pair of black flats to wear with long skirts in the winter
(that is, no slingbacks, open sides, etc). I don't *love* these, but I
don't *hate* them either, and after looking at hundreds of shoes online
or in stores, not *hating* may be the best I can do. The second pair,
OTOH, I do love. They're black BCBG Paris kitten heeled halter backs
with a somewhat pointy toe. There's a circle cut out on the shoe, with
several colors of leather pieces going from there to the halter. I
like the *idea* of colored shoes, and even own a few pairs, but rarely
wear them. I figure that these have the element of colors while still
being a neutral (black), so they'll get more wear.
