Borba Water

"Zedar" <coolhun...@nospam.net>
Has anyone else tried Borba water?
I bought a month's supply of the clarifying packets from Sephora ($100) and
have only been drinking this for two days, so I can't speak to its
effectiveness, but I really hate the taste already and don't know if I will
be able to drink 2 glasses of the stuff every day.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to mix it with to disguise the
taste? Any rants or raves about this product?
A bit off topic, but I Googled Borba water and found that Murad is suing
Borba, basically claiming that the product infringes on Murad's research and
technology.

It looks like a blatant steal to me.
J Dermatolog Treat. 2001 Mar;12(1):47–51.
The effect of an oral supplement containing glucosamine, amino acids,
minerals, and antioxidants on cutaneous aging: a preliminary study.
Murad H, Tabibian MP.
El Segundo, California 90245, USA.
BACKGROUND: Alterations in collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans
contribute to cutaneous changes seen in aging skin.
METHODS: A randomized, controlled, single–blind study was conducted with
53 female volunteers who were supplied with an oral supplement
containing glucosamine, amino acids, minerals, and various antioxidant
compounds. Hydration properties of the skin as well as textural analysis
of the women's fine lines and wrinkles were assessed following 5 weeks
intake of the oral supplement and results were compared with those of a
control group of 12 individuals who did not take the supplement.
RESULTS: There was a statistically significant reduction (34%) in the
number of visible wrinkles as measured by the silflo replicas (P < 0.01)
and a reduction (34%) in the number of fine lines (P < 0.06) in the
group of women who took the supplement. No significant changes in
epidermal hydration were observed in either the control or study groups.
CONCLUSION: The use of an oral supplement containing glucosamine,
minerals, and various antioxidant compounds can potentially improve the
appearance of visible wrinkles and fine lines. It does not, however,
affect epidermal hydration.

You could duplicate this with other supplements at a much lower cost.

$100 per MONTH? That seems outrageously expensive to me for a cocktail
of glucosamine and amino acids, which one could take in a cheap and
easy to consume tablet or capsule form anyway.
Sorry, I know that this isn't helpful to you, but I am frankly kind of
astonished by the pricetag of this product; even if it works, it seems
like an incredible ripoff both of Murad et al.'s research and of the
consumer.

Nobody else will find this funny, but I clicked on this because I thought it
was such a comical misspelling of Barbra Walters.
Apologies.

Me, too. It reminded me of the Baba Wawa sketches that Gilda Radner did
on SNL in the 70s :)

Well, if we all only had access to **her** "skin secrets" (a/k/a a big
jar of Vaseline, applied over the camera lens instead of her face,
though).

it's good with tequila! or try a borba and bourbon. seriously, i haven't tried
this stuff, but maybe a fruit nectar will mask the taste.
