accessing those last drops

gwehr...@bellsouth.net
I bet you all know the situation –––fragrance which comes in those
bottles with the crimped metal seal around the neck and a pump spray–––
the fine tube of course never touches bottom, so a good half o' tsp. of
scent is left...forget about removing that seal – or trying to break
the bottle and dealing with slivers of glass everywhere...
just remove the plastic cylindrical piece atop the pump, invert the
bottle and press down on the protruding stem – use heel of the hand,
frex, and the remaining scent will flow onto your wrist.
hth,
val
and don't forget about cutting those plastic tubes in half and scraping
out a lot of product..

Yeah, I'm getting ready to slice through my tube of City Lips. This is
such a ripoff, with so much product unreachable by the too–short brush.
Phooey.

I agree!! And what about the last drops in a glass foundation bottle?? That
really irks me too. I won't even buy glass foundation bottles anymore which is
a shame since I would like to try True Match (well then again, I do have oily
skin....). It's bad enough we pay so much for products, but then to have to
waste them is so much more aggravating... //vent

I get frustrated sometimes about that, too, but when you reach the last of
your foundation in a *glass* bottle, use Q–Tips to get it out. That's what
I've done for a while now and it makes it so that you don't waste any and
can use all that's there in the bottle. I just scrape the side when it comes
to the end of the bottle with the Q–Tips. The bendable type of cotton swabs
are even better for this.
One thing I really hate is shampoo or conditioner that's really thick and
there's at least an ounce left at the end that won't come out. That seems
like such a waste and sometimes if you add a little water to it it *still*
stays stuck inside of a 16 oz. bottle.
I once used some wooden popsicle sticks that I got at a craft store to get
some out the last few ounces of a really expensive conditioner bottle
because I was so ticked at the stupid, unorthodox shape of the bottle and
the thickness of the product. Upside down it still wouldn't budge, but the
popsicle sticks made it work.
(I've done the popsicle stick method with honey that wouldn't come out of
the jar, too. It wasn't crystallized yet, but it had become quite
thick/goopy and just wouldn't budge otherwise.)

Add a bit of water, lay it on its side and give it about 15 seconds on
medium in the microwave (cap off), or just invert in a cup of very hot
water.

I have the same complaint with Lipfinity (the color half) and most nail
polishes. I have a couple of Essie colors that I go through before
they're gloppy cause I don't find that Essie polishes get very thick
and goopy – when I'm part way down the new one, I'll pour the last of
the older polish into the new bottle.

OK, it might sound tacky, but I have a very small crotchet hook that I use
to swab out the last bits from both the Lipfinity and City Lips from those
blasted tubes. The hook part even gets the last of the City Lips out from
under the top of the tube, beneath the neck.
Of course I wash the hook thoroughly after each use. It definitely
decreases product waste even though it is kind of a pain.

Now I don't feel quite as goofy. :–)
I've used a pair of Revlon Stainless steel slanted tip tweezers in the past
for the same sort of thing when I didn't have any Q–Tips accessible to jam
inside the tube and extract the last of the lipstick or gloss. If it's one
of my favorite colors, I'll use the stuff until it's completely gone.

My CSP vanilla abricot has audible liquid on the bottom that doesn't spray out.
Any ideas on how I can get those last fragrant drops?
