Lipstick for photos

"Kelly" <wittynos...@hevanet.com>
Oh know, I can't remember what type of lipstick to wear for photographs. Do
I go with a dark matte or something glossy. I know there's a rule, but it
escapes me. Most of the photos will be in black and white.......Help?!

Hi Kelly, I think it's a combination. My opinion comes from
observation, I don't know what the experts say. Red lipstick in black
and white photos looks black. I've seen wedding photos that looked
awfully goth. On the other hand, glossy lipstick might make a weird
reflection. I'd wear a matte lipstick in a tone only a little darker
than my skin.

Try YSL Rouge Pur Transparent #8. They sell it at Nordstrom, and
Bloomingdales and other high end stores. A beautiful soft glossy red
without the really "too too red" look many of us hate. Love it.

A few years ago I happened so see Stila Pixie lipstick recommended as
good for photos shortly before we were to have family photos taken. It
worked well for me (fair coloring). Pixie is a rosy–brown color, not
matte, and not glossy. It made my lips show up well without making
them the focus.

Good point about the red looking black–I hadn't thought of that. It makes
perfect sense! I tend to like darker lipstick, but will keep this in mind
Thursday.

I'm on it tomorrow–will check it out. I tend to shy away from reds–go for
more wines/browns......time to make a change.

Aha! A color photo recommended. Thanks! Suddenly I think I need to go
lipstick shopping. Darn ;)
