AF LA adventures for the Golden Globes

"Stevie" <privilegemagaz...@charter.net>
I !
well this is going to be done in parts as I have spent most of today on the
computer and I need to get off soon!
Fashiondish and I had to hit some pre–Golden Globe events this week and it
was FUN!
Thursday was the first day (though people wanted/invited us for Wed through
Sat)
FD wore this great skirt and a striped blouse and a green cord (I think it
was cord) shrunken jacket. We carried similar Coach bags. I had dithered
away in the AM wondering what to wear because I kept putting on outfits that
didn't have a jacket (and that was the concern since Thurs was looking
colder than the previous day.. ) that worked. So I opted for a wool twill
pant suit in taupe with brown suede shoes with a bow at the vamp and the
ribbon from the bow was threaded through each side of the shoes and they had
a low sculptured heel. I wore a translucent plum sllk theory blouse with
this and some great jewelry.. At least it was warmer.. (good thing.. I did
too)
First stop was the Platinum Guild suite at the Luxe Hotel. If you go to Wire
Image you can see Melina Kanakaredes and Nicolette Sheridan there .. but we
didn't see them. They were there earlier.
It was in the penthouse and the Platinum people treated it like it was a
great party and had breakfast foods of fruit, muffins and croissants. We
happened to arrive when lunch did (sandwiches, salads, brownies that were to
die for and cookies along with drinks (alcoholic and non) and other great
stuff)
We split up so that I could talk to my favorite PR person and FD talked to
the new person on board. I had recently asked for some platinum images and
the person who sent them to me was really great in showing me tons of REALLY
cool jewelry. I got the history on each designer and what their design focus
was. Some were totally stunning ––featuring old Hollywood Glamour and some
were soft and delicate. They even had some mens' stuff there too. VERY
beautiful jewelry. I got to try on a platinum/diamond and emerald necklace
that had one emerald that was 13 karats surrounded by diamonds. This was the
GREENEST emerald I have ever seen. it was sensational and it looked great on
me too (Honey.. sweetie, if you read this post because some kind soul sent
it to you, it would make a great Valentine's present. they know it's on my
wish list and so do the Platinum people! hahaha)
Saw some amazing rings too. Eva Longoria had been there I think the day
before.
I went through all the jewelry about 30 mins or so and then went off to
have lunch with FD and we talked a lot with the photographer and also
another pr person .. very fun. great view but a bit hazy and it started to
get colder and more cloudy.
so we had tea and then went in to cover the jewelry again. I got to try on
more things and we were there for about 90 mins or so.. it was fun! We
walked out with a couple of goody bags including press info too which was
very necessary. snagged the car from the valet and headed down to the Avalon
Hotel
next stop was the Moo Roo and Doris Panos jewelry suite.. it was on the
fifth floor of this redone hotel that resembles a real 50's style hotel
complete with cabanas by the pool! We saw our friend Alex from Moo Roo who
looked amazingly rested for all the traveling she had been doing and met the
Doris Panos person as well. There were a couple other writers there (one
from In Touch) and we swapped stories. The one from In Touch talked about an
interview she had just done on Eva Longoria when she was in San Antonio for
her sister's wedding and she told us all about it! ( so if you see that
story in IN TOUCH magazine, check it out)
We heard who had been there and it was cool to hear about what bags they
were interested in and what jewelry. We were thinking of leaving but then
someone came in and asked us if we wanted foot or hand massages.. either and
both were welcome so FD got the foot one and I got the hand massage. We had
some great massage people and I think we were there for almost 30 mins just
vegging out... well not entirely as we talked about the real deal behind
Brad and Jen! (and there was no new info to be had )
But we felt really REALLY good after the massages from Avance spa.. (NJ
based!)
the products were amazing and smelled heavenly.
I met the In Touch person and her friend who owns a sweater line and I
handed over my card because I am ALWAYS interested in a new line!
We said good bye, got another goody bag and headed down to the valet to get
the car.. to head over to Century City Plaza hotel.. which was hop skip and
a jump away but I managed to turn into the wrong driveway and had to BACK
UP onto a busy scarily busy avenue of the stars to get out and go into the
right one. We walked into the hotel in much darker weather (it was about 3
ish) .. the lobby was dim but tons of people around. We found the elevator
and went up to the penthouse and got off, noticing that the floor was dim
but that was typical. We walked into the Australian suite (Aus. film week
celebration) and it was dim too. Turns out the lights were out for several
city blocks .. ugh. The bathroom was lit with a single candle and you
couldn't see everything really well. So we hung out, checking out the cool
shoes, gowns from Leona Edmundston, Bora, some great jewelry and other
designer stuff. Ran into the West Coast pr for Seven jeans ( I am working on
a denim story) and we talked for a while. They remembered when I had hit the
Seven and Swarovski party in South Coast Plaza with the kid.. they even
asked about her which I thought was really nice.
anyway had a cookie, and a single hor d'oeuvre and lots of water while FD
indulged in sushi, champagne (I was driving!) and a cookie as well. She ran
into someone who was the trade rep for Aus fashion and they talked about a
lot of stuff including the Tuesday night event for Aust trade. sounds fun!
Eventually as it was getting darker and darker and it was only 4 ish, the
lights finally came on! we stayed about 20 mins more and then had to head
out to Beverly Hills to meet up with the Porsche people for a story. It was
so cool But we had extra time to get there so we stopped at barneys NY to
walk around. Saw a stylist in the red zone with emergency blinkers on and
she got a ticket!
anyway I went into the store and Stephane Marais is now there. Francesca
Guerrera is gone. Talked to the By Terry person to get matched to Teint
Opulent. It turns out the color they matched me to is the one I have in the
jar but haven't used for fear it was the wrong color.. now I can use it. !
(yay. this stuff is amazing foundation)
We walked around the coop floor and the floor 2 with the designer stuff. I
found cool shoes on sale.... and some other fab stuff on sale and even
better stuff NOT on sale.. like these gorgeous candy colored cashmere
sweaters with sequined patterns on them. SO cute. so so so cute. I wanted on
but at 700, th
