is Yves Rocher worth it?

twenty2...@aol.com (Twenty2222)
the cosmetics, I can get those at the drugstore, like really, mascara is
mascara, I mean, all shoe polish is created equal.
the free gifts, the blankets and the wallets and the ponchos are sub–standard,
right?
overall I'd say that I've spent the same at Yves Rocher as I could have at a
drugstore, granted, they have fragrances nobody else has, but really, I'm not
getting a deal, even if they offer whatever scent at 50% off, even then, it's
still $20, which is all I'd pay for a bottle of perfume anyway.
I do like their A.D.N. stuff which is horribly overpriced. I always get that
stuff on a free product coupon.
Opinions?

I find the skin care (Bio Specifiic) comparable to Clarins and much cheaper.
Love the Yria lipsticks too because they aren't perfumed (as far as I can
tell) and they stay put. Not so crazy about the Yria liquid makeup though––
going back to Clarins. Love the shower gels (Cypress and Caribbean Aloe).
The order forms are fun too, all the stickers and sales offers. It's
childish, I know, but I fall for it every time. ; )
The giveaways are really crappy for the most part. I give them to my 6 year
old niece when she comes to visit.

Well I am not sure about mascara being just mascara.
After years of using Lancome and a couple of other french brands I
recently, in an emergency, went to CVS and bought Maybelline mascara.
I have used in the past drugstore mascara, namely Grand Curl waterproof
mascara without any problems.
Unfortunately CVS had no Grand Curl so I went for the Maybelline
mascara (the one in the bright pink tube) since I have read countless
times how it's the low price favorite of sooooo many makeup
artists...blah, blah.
I had a horrendous reaction to the mascara and ended up having to go to
my doctor and my dermatologist about it. It's not clear whether it was
an allergic reaction or a contaminated tube (as my doctor
suspected)....needless to say I will never again wear a Maybelline
mascara. When it comes to mascara I rather spend the money than take
the chance of having another "mystery reaction."

I've been buying their shower gels and one of the eye creams for years
– have never paid full price for anything and wonder if anyone ever
does.
I do like the Burnt Caramel lipstick – but most of their shades have
too much blue for me.
One freebie which I liked is a 5 lippie palette – about the size of a
pocket comb.

I have this lippie (Burnt Caramel) and the matching nail polish. I like
them.

I've never tried their color cosmetics, but the Plaisirs Nature
fragrances are delightful! My favorite is Vanille de Bourbon. A 0.67
oz bottle sells for about $3.50 and lasts months. The body gel is just
as nice. If you are located anywhere near Philly, Yves Rocher has a
retail store at the King of Prussia mall.

I notice that their shower gels never really rinse completely off (never
zestfully clean).
I agree with the person who said that the free gifts usually go to a niece or
neighbor kid. Although I did get a free wallet which I have been using now for
over a year.
