OT? Chocolate

fashiond...@aol.com (Fashiondish)
Is it ever really OT to post here about chocolate?
Stevie and I treated ourselves ot the new Starbucks chocolate drink today. I'm
glad I looked up the nutrition info first: It has more fat and calories than a
serving of Ben and Jerry's!
But it tastes divine and packs a strong chocolate and sugar punch. I would like
some more of it...actually I would like to bathe in it. And sleep in it too!
We split the 6 oz. size (only size offered). The smaller portions fit nicely
into espresso–size minicups.
Fueled by our treat, Stevie snagged a great cashmere sweater at Loehmann's in
just the shade she was looking for––bright yellow.
We both decided we'll wear a lot more color this spring, and not just pink.
Yellow, blue, red, lilac, green.
Will always keep a spot for chocolate, though!

I have seen this drink adverstised. Yum. Was it the chocolate that inspired
you to wear more colors this spring?

Yes, a friend and I sampled the Chantico and while I liked it, 6 oz is
WAY too much for one serving! It's practically like drinking a really
high quality brownie batter :) I think that a 2 oz. serving would be
good enough for me and a shot of espresso added to that would make it
absolutely perfect.

The server at Starbucks said he had finished his with a shot of espresso and
was therefore completely high at the moment!
I might recommend that only for experienced caffeine consumers.
Am also thinking that drinking small amounts means we won't spill any onour new
bright clothes!

agree on that. I would recommend less than a shot of expresso to cut the
richness.. and I would recommend slightly less than 3 oz... about 25 mins
later, I was not feeling so good.. it's so rich it made me woozy.
Stevie
"Kelly" <wittynos...@hevanet.com>
I wondered if one would feel slightly ill after drinking 6oz of it.
Alternating with the espresso would be good, especially if one needs a bit
of a buzz. yowza!

I had one today and I loved it! It was ultra rich and the brownie
batter comment was right on. I couldn't have it all the time but as a
once in a while treat, you bet. I did get a little stomach ache about
an hour later, thought I attributed that to it being that time of the
month. The guys there knew how to make it though I think I was the
first consumer who had ordered one. They didn't yet know what to
charge for it so they charged me for a hot chocolate. The guy who made
it had already consumed 2 of them and it was only 1 pm! Whoever posted
about the fat content (I will not name names!) should be ashamed, I
looked it up after consuming and will have to skip dinner and run
numerous miles on the treadmill.

It does have 30% of your daily iron requirement and 25% of your daily calcium,
which is better that no nutritional value at all....
"Kelly" <wittynos...@hevanet.com>
The barista had already consumed 2? Wow, that is impressive!

actually no..... we talked about this series of events we have to attend
next week and what we were going to wear (dependent on the rain of course).
We had already gone through our fave boutique across the street and had
debated about where to have coffee/tea and whether to try this chantico. We
went to Peets (our fave) and it was SRO.. no lie! and so we walked across
the street and there was tons of open space at Starbucks. At the split of $$
and cups, we were happy and it was insanely rich and divine...lovely! But it
gets to you later.. I think the shot of expresso would be lovely (and mix in
some alcohol into this and you are over the moon on it)
FD had told me about some Theory at Loehmanns and due to the 1) rain and 2)
deadline for 3 articles, I hadn't gone.
We made a quick drive–by... and found the theory.. beautiful wool/nylon flat
knit sweaters in citron green, orchid and light lavender purple (think
crocus color or hyacinth) .. I tried the small on and it didn't fit
perfectly.. and the medium was too large and hit me wrong and for 80
dollars, I wasn't going to do something sort of right.
I walked around not really expecting anything and lo and behold I found a
lovely yellow cable cardigan in a bright yellow.. not sunflower, not
lemon.. pretty clean with no weird undertones. I tried it on.. very cute.
(esp with the magenta tank underneath) price tag $90! I took it off and
checked the label.. 100% cashmere! down by about 52%!! I ran down FD and
tried it on for her. first is was a "ehhh" but in a min or two with the
sweater unbuttoned to see the contrast of the color (and my new pearls) it
made total sense.
I walked out with a sweater for under $100 and very pleased. Even my SO
thought it was a good deal.

Stevie, could you tell which season's collection this Theory stuff was
from? The spring–y colors were nice but I can't say I'd ever seen them
in Bloomies, but then again I haven't been hip to Theory til quite
recently.
Before Christmas I had picked up a pair of oxblood wool Max C pants but
returned them because I realized the color went with nothing in my
closet and the fabric had an odd sheen.
With the credit I nabbed a Ralph Lauren (Golf line) pink cashmere
turtleneck sweater, thick and cabled, retail $399, on clearance to $70.
Just had to get a hole reweaved for $20!

OMG, I tried it over the weekend too and was in love, ready to dive in
and bathe in it then and there and leave DH and DD in the car ;–) until
I was done. At first I wondered why on earth they only offered it in a
6 oz size but the buzz and sugar fix lasted me the whole day. More is
more.
On a solid dark chocolate note, I am in love with Pirugyna (sp?) dark
chocolate and happily, my local Safeway sells it so I can get a fix
whenever I want. I'm a chocolate snob and didn't expect to like it but
it's just the right balance between bland milk milk chocolatey and
strong bitter.

There is a picture of it on the Starbucks website (it looks like a hot drink
to me – its in one of their paper cups rather than the clear plastic cups)
http://www.starbucks.com/retail/beverages.asp
"Chantico Drinking Chocolate"– a drinkable dessert with an intense,
full–bodied chocolate flavor and silky, rich texture.
