I don't normally follow this group, but I had a question pertaining to
fashion that could easily be answered by most here.
I am 25, a college student, fit and healthy, and somewhat fashionable,
but my tastes are changing now that I'm finishing school and moving up
in the world. I always wear a white tshirt underneath my polo shirts,
sweaters, and any other collared shirts. Here lies my question.
How do I wear the vneck sweaters that I have? I usually wear them
with the undershirt showing, but I just don't know how appropriate it
is. I don't think it is in bad taste, but how do you feel? Are these
made sweaters only for collared shirts? Do I buy vneck undershirts to
go with these sweaters I have?
Thanks,
Roderick
Hey Roderick
It's a timely question for me, because I bought my bf a vneck sweater
from H&M, a merino wool one in black and we've been trying to figure
out what goes best with it. I think w/ vnecks you have 3 options
depending on your "look" and I think all are pretty acceptable.
1) wear nothing underneath or a shirt that doesn't show underneath. I
noticed an actor on Young and the Restless wearing it like that.
2) wear a plain crew neck tshirt. no decals or stuff showing. My bf
wears his black vneck w/ a black crew neck tshirt.
3) wear a collared shirt. But don't wear an oxford button down collar
shirt. Wear it with the collars coming out.
I think it's more trendy to wear it w/ a collared shirt and least
trendy to wear it w/ nothing or nothing showing underneath. I think if
you have a lot of chest hair, the first option isn't an option.
But that's just my opinion. :)
