L'Oreal True Match powder – rant!

KMS <badgerda...@puttyhead.combustible>
I became obsessed with finding the new L'Oreal True Match powder after
it was mentioned here. Well, I finally found, purchased and tried it and
I think I hate it.
In the liquid foundation, I can wear shades W1 and W2 with equal
success. Both are good matches for me, and I often mix them and wear
them together.
I bought the powder in shade W1, erring on the side of paleness since
it's winter and all. I put it on this morning over my usual morning
skincare and ew! It looks like I'm wearing a foundation that's about
three shades too dark. It looked too dark as soon as I put it on, but I
left it in hopes it would sort of settle in. But it's just getting
darker. I'm going to have to wash it off and start over before I leave
the house.
Also, it's so unbelievably matte that it makes my skin look dead. I had
to strategically brush some powdered highlighter on top just to avoid
looking corpselike.
So, um, this is a huge miss for me, it looks like. If I want a pressed
powder with enough coverage to stand on its own, I'll stick with
Neutrogena Healthy Defense in Fair (which is very pale and yellow based
and has sunscreen as well).
YMMV. HAND.

I also found that this runs quite dark. I don't use the Tru Match, but
the colors *seem* to be the same as Cashmere Perfect. I just switched
to a lighter shade in CP for winter, and that's what I picked up in the
Tru Match powder. Its WAY to dark.
I did like the stuff otherwise, though; maybe I'll pick up a lighter
one.

What shade is the palest in these powders??? I have been wanting to pick them
up and I don't know which one to get. I am a MAC NC15. TIA!!

The palest warm shade is W1. The palest neutral shade is N1. The palest
cool shade is C1. I think they also have shade names, but I don't know
what they are. To my eye, W1 looks more pale than N1 or C1, if you're
looking for the *very* lightest shade they offer. Unfortunately, as I
said, that shade of powder turned out way way WAY too dark for me, even
though the liquid works just fine.
Since other people love this stuff so much, I can only assume that
something in my body chemistry or the skincare products I use in the
morning reacted with some ingredient in this stuff to turn it dark
orange on my face. Which sucks for me, but I'm happy for the rest of
y'all. ;)

I finally scored some at Target last night!
Bought a cake of my W4, along with some concealer.
So...can this be used as a powder foundation, or is it merely a
pressed powder?

I'm a MAC NC20 and I'm an N2 in the True Match liquid. Try both the
N1 and N2. I haven't bought the powder yet, I know, I know I'm
supposed to be on Moratorium but it's True Match. :–)

Makeup, it takes believing in. Like a magic carpet, it's belief that

And I have a question...
....I have mine now. W4 for me, perfect match. (a true match, I
guess.)
Are you guys using this as a powder foundation? If so, how? I have
tried this for three mornings in a row now and I am rather unhappy
with the result. It is streaky and the coverage is variable. I also
feel like I have to use a lot to get any coverage at all.

Saw it this weekend at Target & Long's and I'm in the SF Bay Area.

i saw this at both target and walgreen's. walgreen's even had testers
in every color! i am a l'oreal nude beige in every one of their foundations,
which is w3 in true blend. i sampled both w2 and w3 on my nose and both
seemed to disappear into my skin. YMMV???

tried some of the Cashmere blush on my hand from the sample. It had good
sized sparkles in it that turned me off. Not a look I would want.
Thanks for killing that lemming. Eagerly awaiting reports on the new Revlon
and
Maybelline age–defying foundations and Maybelline liquid concealer.

Help! This drugstore foundation whore desperately needs a new lay!

I was wary of this one, and my foundation twin,
the amazingly knowledgeable KMS, has just confirmed my suspicions. I'd still be
tempted to try the True Match concealer, though.
I'm sorta curious about the L'oreal Cashmere Blush, the new Revlon and
Maybelline age–defying foundations and the new Maybelline liquid concealer.
Anyone try these?

Mal, I picked up the Maybelline age–defying foundation in Porcelain
Ivory (I think – whatever the Light 1 shade is) yesterday but I haven't
tried it yet. I shall report back! Walgreens actually has testers of
this stuff, BTW!
