Non–greasy SPF moisturiser?

"Lipgloss Junkie" <lipglossjun...@gmail.com>
I'm on the search for a daily moisturiser with SPF. I've found them to
be too greasy – they go on well but my skin turns into an oilslick by
the afternoon. And of course, makeup slips off.
I've tried Olay Total Effects with SPF15 and I think it was a Nivea
one. Haven't tried a dpt. store brand yet...I'm chicken to spend $40+
and get another oilslick scenario.
I want to do the right thing and get some SPF on my face daily. But are
there non greasy solutions?
TIA
Melanie

A different Oil of Olay product rather than Total Effects. Total
Effects
contains some "anti–aging" ingredients that make it greasy. (Any
moisturizer
containing "anti–aging" ingredients usually means it works best for
dry skin,
if you don't have dry skin those will feel greasy to you.) Instead
try either
Oil of Olay Complete UV (SPF 15) or Oil of Olay Complete Defense (SPF
30).
If the SPF 15 is chosen get the fragrance free version, it doesn't
seem to make
sense but for some reason that one feels lighter in texture. If the
SPF 30 one
is chosen get the Sensitive Skin version, even if you don't have
sensitive
skin, because the formulas are completely different. The regular
formula in
the SPF 30 is greasy and uses Avobenzone as the active sunscreen
ingredient.
Avobenzone is OK but it's not the best sunscreen because it's not
photostable,
meaning it breaks down in sunlight. The Sensitive Skin version is
not greasy
and uses clear zinc oxide as the active sunscreen, which is a better
and much
more photostable sunscreen.
I totally agree, the Olay sensitive skin ones are excellent! I think,
for the money, they can't be beat. Even at a higher price range it's
hard to find anything better, IMHO.

ITA with TWW and Kerri about OoO but would add a caveat that some people's
eyes are very sensitive, and some of the sunscreen in the Olay products can
really bother their eyes. Something to be aware of....

I second this product. I have the oily t–zone and this does not contribute to
more of that.

The Eucerin with spf 30 is also good; on my skin it dries down more
quickly than the other two I like, Olay spf 30 and Neutrogena spf 30.
The Eucerin spf 30 is also in a pump bottle (like the Olay), which I
like.

I've read tons of posts about how fantastic La Mer is...but I just cant
spend the $$$. I feel maxed out when I buy something from EL or
Lancome. It always seems like a gamble and gambling with $100+ products
is too crazy for me.
I'll try the Cetaphil moisturiser.
Thanks

Products with titanium dioxide or zinc oxide tend to control oil for
me. YMMV. Right now, I'm using Olay Complete Defense Sensitive Skin
formula.

I just checked Boscia out...SPF15 is pretty good. I haven't seen one
higher.
BTW, I'm using Cetaphil with SPF 15 and I'm not that impressed with it
although it's better than the Olay Total Effect SPF15. Maybe Boscia
will be next.
Cheers,

This is a pricey option, but one that I have been happy with for many
years––La Mer The SPF Fluid. This is SPF18, and serves not only has a great
sunscreen, it also does a great job with moisturizing and keeping my skin in
nice shape. I think it's around $65/bottle. Not greasy at all, and it also
works as a great primer for makeup.

Sigh...it's posts like this that make me click on gloss.com and look at La
Mer. Haven't caved yet. Whenever I see the "travel sized" kit at over three
hundred dollars, something clicks in my brain and I close gloss.com
again...so far.

The least–greasy SPF moisturizer I've ever used is Boscia Oil–Free Daily
Hydration SPF 15. It sinks into the skin instantly, feels like nothing
on, and has never made me oily or greasy. I only wish they made it with
a higher SPF, then it would be my holy grail.

You know, I've read (don't remember where) that La Mer uses mineral oil, if
this is the case I would never use it on my acne prone/oily skin. It's also
one of the cheapest cosmetic ingredients. Just curious, I'm glad it works
for others.
