Why aren't Coveralls in fashion?

eastwardbound2...@yahoo.com (Eastward Bound)
Why aren't coveralls in fashion? They are by far the most practicle
type of clothing you can wear. You never have to worry about tucking
your shirt in and they are extreamely comfortable to wear. The pair I
have has two zipper heads on it. One at the top and one at the
bottom. Just like ordinary Jeans you can unzip it from the bottom for
when you want to relieve yourself.
The local Sheriffs department uses green coveralls/jumpsuits. Those
in jail/prison wear bright orange coveralls due to their practicality.
Mechanics, military, pilots, carpenters, skydivers. They all wear
em.... Not only that but many have found them to be very durable and
comfortable for harsh winters for outdoor working. Carhartt makes a
very high quality pair of insulated coveralls of "duck cotton brown"
and they last for years and years and years.
And so I wonder when will coveralls become popular amoung the general
public? For both Casual and Formal wear?
Notice how in all those science fiction movies/shows people are
wearing coveralls? Star Trek, Star Wars? Me says,
Coveralls/Jumpsuits are the fashion of the future...

Fashion by its nature needs a bit of impacticality.
I offer as my proof of that assertion the strappy stiletto sandal.

Not to forget that that the color is "Shoot Me If I Escape Orange."

I do tend to agree about they're functional but they do have to all
come off at bathroom time...

They pop up from time to time under the name "jumpsuits" but (IMHO)
you have to be slender, long–armed, and long–legged to look good in
them.
In my size, they'd probably look at me in a jumpsuit and make nasty
comments about the Michelin Man. <grin/duck>

Ami, maybe we should have kept this to ourselves! LOL
But I did get a good laugh remembering this..I believe mine had short sleeves
also.

I had a bright pink aviator styled one. I loved it.

And for the same reason, Audrey––you had to take the whole damn thing off in
order to pee. Not fun, especially in cold public bathrooms. Eww.

Absolutely! In the early 80's I had the most obnoxious unique one from Naf
Naf, a French brand that used to be more available here. It was bright green
with black stripes like what a train engineer would wear, a drawstring
waist, and an matching backpack attached by velcro and metal clips.
Perfectly hysterical and hidous. Enough that I have kept it for smiles.

My guess would be because they do little to accentuate the feminine figure.
Hence, the catsuit.

Among other things, because practicality isn't the #1 priority in fashion.
I also suspect many women might object to having to disrobe every time they
use the bathroom.

And whatever is in the top pocket(s) of said jumpsuit takes a "swim"
and has to be fished out to avoid clogging the plumbing.

I have a one–piece "thermal" type of thing i sleep in (VS, believe it or
not!), buttons down the front to about the waist. Get up in the night to pee
and sure is cold taking that whole thing down! Drop–seat would have been
nicer. Don't think that would look too cool for outerwear, though. :–)

I think you answered your own question. I don't want to look like a felon or
a helicopter pilot. For those of us with a long waist, they often produced
the dreaded camel toe. I have had a few and have no intenion of going back.
BTW, they never went out in South Louisiana as men have been wearing them
for at least 30 years. It makes me think of my late uncle . . . again, not a
fashion statement I care to make.

Practical yes (except for necessary bodily functions), attractive no.
I think they would be about as bad, fashion wise, as bib overalls, which
I've never had any desire to wear. :) And, I tend to be the very casual
comfortable type.
