World's Softest Socks

"Smokey" <SmokeyinNewEngl...@yahooey.com>
Well, in true lemming fashion, I ordered these up (crew height, only, per
a.f. recommendation). Got them yesterday and have them on now. They are
fabulous! I am ordering up a bunch more from hanes.com for everyone on my
Christmas list.
Thanks, a.f., again!

Much as I love them, this first day wearing them, I wouldn't say they are
really, REALLY warm. They are really, really nice and really, really soft,
though. You could wear them with running shoes –– they aren't especially
thick socks.
So, get some and wear them with really warm slippers, as I'm doing right

No, their gloriousness is not in their warmth but in their cushyness. For
uber warmth, I recommend a pair of thin cotton socks worn *under* a pair of
World's Softest Socks. A few years ago, I scored some cashmere socks at a
J.Crew traveling outlet sale; they are both thin and warm; I wear them with
tights (under boots)... If your feet get really cold, you really need two
pairs of socks and footwear that's loose enough to allow wiggle room (and
insulation space). In general, I find that tights/hose make my feet colder
than wearing nothing at all. I also recommend staying hydrated (hot herbal
tea is great for this) to improve circulation.

Am currently wearing thin cotton socks, microfibre tights, and my ancient

Not instant gratification, but learn to knit or con someone into knitting you
socks. Since I started wearing hand knit wool socks my feet have never been
warmer, even in the recent single digit weather. The beauty of hand knit is
A)perfect fit B)Good wool, that has not been processed to within an inch of

I found some socks at Walmart today in Faded Glory brand. They are called soft
sock. They list fiber content of shell and lining of most acrylic and touch of
polyester and spandex.
Color I have is cable chambray.

I knit some socks last year using Lion Brand's Magic Stripes yarn.
DARN cute socks, but they are itchy :( Do I just need to suck it up
and get nicer yarn? I love knitting socks; I thought spending over $7
per ball would be nice enough yarn! I'm going to check out the
website you mentioned.

Girlfriend, you can SO get nicer yarn for less than the LB! My favorite is
Kroy by Patons, which you can find online for as little as $1.99 a ball. Do
hunt around for online bargains, or visit a LYS (local yarn store) and check
out their sale bins. Another great site is www.wiseneedle.com for yarn reviews
by knitters like yourself.

It's not the price you pay but the fiber content. There are all sorts

See, I think that wearing microfibre tights will actually make your feet
feel colder; it's just not the fiber to have next to your skin even though
it feels very comfortable. You definitely should aim to have a natural,
breathable fabric like cotton or wool next to your skin. I made my mom stop
wearing pantyhose under slacks and had her switch to socks and she feels
warmer.

My biggest objection to dealing with onehanesplace.com is that shipping fees
are outrageous unless you happen upon a free or reduced shipping deal. I
just got email from them saying that if you order on the web, shipping is
free with a $75 order or a flat $4.95 on smaller orders THROUGH DECEMBER 6
ONLY. Beware, however, that the website is notorious for not applying the
"multiple" purchase (buy four or more of this style for $) prices; make sure
you get the reduced rate. You may have to phone in the order at that point,
but then make sure they give you the reduced/free shipping. They are always
nice about this, but it makes the shopping experience more stressful than
necessary.

I order from onehanesplace on a regular basis, and have for the past 5–6 years,
and haven't had any problems at all with pricing on multiple item deals. I
agree their shipping is ridiculous, right up there with Victoria's Secret, but
I almost always order when there's a 'deal' going – either reduced/free
shipping, or a percentage off the total. It seems they constantly have some
type deal offered.
From the recs here I ordered some of the World's Softest Socks – in the crew
height for my mom and the short sockette type for my daughter. These will be
Christmas gifts so I don't have any feedback yet on how they wear, but they're
very, very soft to the touch.

I bought mine in a 3–pack back in January of this year at Costco. I
used to order directly from the World's Softest Socks web site but I
can't find it anymore. Since my husband needed Thorlo socks, I
ordered from sockcompany.com, got free shipping on the Thorlo, and
they extended free shipping to my softest socks.
I like to wear them with my Uggs and with my knockoff Uggs.
