Anyone know this men's cologne?

ninej...@aol.com (Nine Joys)
Hi! Wondering if any of you knowledgeable folks might know where to find
this...
Name: Imperial del Oro. Bottle is tall, square, clear with large gold flecks.
The round gold label says Imperial del Oro, Long Beach, Calif., Made in USA.
Near the bottom, it says Imperial Lime. No brand or maker on the label or
bottle. Found in Aurora, IL, at the bottom of a shoulder bag whose owner
doesn't recall where he got it. (Whoa, this is starting to sound like a J.
Peterman catalog...) Smells like: strong amber base with a lime and
spicy/peppery note.
I'd love to replace this but can't find anything about it. Please help if you
have ideas. Thanks in advance, and happy shopping!

Cosmetco, Long Beach CA made two of the best men's colognes of the 1960s
and 70s, both of which were called Russian Leather. They were made under
the labels Imperial del Oro and Royal Argenta. The latter was hand
painted in silver and the former was handpainted in gold. The latter is
subtle and the former is stronger. They are unusual and very distinctive
scents––there is notheing like them, even including all aof the various
Russian Leathers that were produced. Apparently the name cannot be
trademarked. I have had both copied. Strangers (usually strange women
which is fine with me) stoop to ask me what I have on. Cosmetico also
made "Spanish Galleon" under the Royal Argenta brand.
This is the first I heard of Imperial Lime. I imagine if one wanted to
track this down, it would be in Long Beach. If you like it and have
enough to make a copy, I would suggest doing that. jethrobodinejr
