I recently saw in a catalog a set of 2 edible drink glasses made out of candy
canes – would be great for these martinis! Unfortunately I can't remember the
name of the catalog. It also showed a set of 2 glasses made of chocolate. I
can't figure out how people would use these glasses without getting their hands
sticky.

IIRC, Sur la Table and Crate & Barrel catalogues have shot glasses made out
of candy cane.

Yes Geri – that was it, Sur la Table. You have a great memory!

Heh – I was at Sur la Table in Pasadena last weekend (after the Doo–Dah
parade) and actually looked at those.

I'm surprised "no peppermint schnapps."
IMHO, peppermint schnapps is an awful liquid that tastes like
alcoholic candy canes. That means it's less awful than 99% of alcohol
in general.

that would get me halfway to "wasted." i'm a lightweight when it
comes to martinis. (Buca di Beppo makes the *best* white
cosmopolitans – make sure you get Gray Goose L'Orange.) i wish i
was a lightweight around my midsection.

Thanks for that recommendation.
Another drink to add to the list.

Great stuff... I'll give that a go... my favourite cocktail at the moment is
'Trumpets' which I found at the Seahorse Lounge in Caesars Palace:
1 part vodka
1 part kahlua
1 part chocolate liqueuer (Godiva or Mozart)
Just mix it altogether, serve in a martini glass and garnish with chocolate
straw.

I have had one of those and it was too rich for my blood. However, I know a
variation of this drink (not a martini) called a Tumbleweed. Leave out the
vodka and put in one part cream de cacao and one part Kahlua and blend with
ice cream. It is delish and surprisingly not as heavy as the martini.
