More Coach bag questions

Qintes <rn...@yahoo.com>
Is there a web site that shows how to tell if a Coach bag is real or
not? I just bought my first Carryall & Wallet off Ebay and the person
selling them wouldn't even give me their name. Hmmmmmm....
Also, when you all are talking about Coach outlet stores...what do you
mean? Is that an actual Coach store or a BigLots that sells Coach?
When I think of outlets I think of strip malls and dollar stores.
Forgive my ignorance as I enter the world of designer fashion.
Thanks!

There are actual Coach outlet stores. All they sell is Coach stuff and the
deals are pretty good. I don't know how many there are –– there is one in
Kittery, Maine.

I went to the Coach outlet store in Woodbury Commons (NY) a couple weeks ago
and it was *mobbed* with Asian tourists. (There is a similar outlet near my
home, a few hundred miles northwest of NYC and it has only a fraction the
inventory and traffic.) I've acquired Coach stuff at TJ Maxx and
Marshall's––definitely great prices, but very hit or miss in terms of
finding the stuff.

p.s. Trying to finance my purchases by selling purses and Wolford tights on
ebay: www.tinyurl.com/68g26 . I love to do ebay–biz with other a.f.ers. If
you bid and win, please let me know so I can throw in some extras.

The one nearest to me, in Ellenton (sp?) is pretty much guaranteed to have
everything that's currently in the department stores. The prices are 20–25%
less than the deparment store prices. Their sales are terrific, at about 50%
off retail, however it's usually the odd colored bags that are on sale, not
basics like brown tones or black.

There's a Coach outlet here in Dawsonville, Georgia. Y'all come on
down and spend some cash, ya hear? ;)
Because of the proximity of the outlet to the Atlanta Coach store
though, they can't carry Signature items.

The only Coach outlet I have seen is in Freeport, Maine. I purchased a bag
there but sadly the savings wasn't all that much off a commercial store. The
selection was however much better than usual.

There is an outlet in Rehobeth, Delaware. They have
great stuff. But also when I have been there the
past couple of times nothing has jumped out and begged me to take it home.
Does Coach still do catalogues? I know I used to be
on their mailing list but have moved so many times in
the past 10 years.

Yes, I recently got one in the mail. I only get one a year, at holiday time.
As for outlets, there used to be a decent one in Lancaster, but it's not there
anymore. I did get a couple of bags, a keychain, and a belt for DH before it
disappeared.

I get one about four times a year, I suppose for each season.

Hey, I know it's a little off topic, but please forgive me. I am just
curious if anyone knows where I could find the Coach black patent
leather clutch from Winter 2003, either new or slightly used. My
girlfriend passed up the chance to get it once, and has never seen it
since, not even on Ebay. I'm trying to find it to get it for her as a
gift, so if anyone has any ideas, suggestions, or the bag itself I
could buy, that would be fantastic. Thanks!

Pam,
I know your question about authenticity hasn't been answered yet, so here's
some help:
Every bag has a unique serial number stamped inside of it. You can verify the
number through Coach. They will tell you what style, color it should be and
where it was to be sold at. The seller should tell you the number and then you
can call Coach (get the # via toll–free assistance, I'm sure) to get help. I
know they could stamp the same number over and over again in fakes, but there's
a good chance Coach will have that number available to tell you to be careful
of it, as others may have called too.

Thank you very much! I never would have thought of checking the serial
number. I'll do that!
Thanks!
