OT: Polish Pottery

cindiat...@aol.com (CindiatGZG)
One of my girlfriends just moved back to the States after living in Germany
(while her DH was stationed there) and she raves about this
Polish Pottery. Does anyone know anything about it?
She claims to collect about 4 or 5 different patterns. She wants to
open a shop and import the stuff.
What gives, what is so special about it?

Polish Pottery.
Very nice pottery.
I browsed through the recipes at that site which brought back memories of my
mother in law preparing Barszcz, Bigos and Pierogi. I did not care for the beet
soup (barszcz) but my husband loved it.

I've been collecting pieces for about the last 10 years. I like that
you can mix and match patterns and it all really goes together....also
looks great with the dark blue Fiestaware. QVC also sells it:

but I get alot of odds and ends from TJ Maxx.

I used 2 pieces for Thanksgiving dinner today :–)
I love it partly because I'm Polish, and partly because the colors and designs
are intricate and beautiful. I love the pieces that are predominantly blue,
with yellow in them. The more creative and colorful pieces are called Unikat,
and are more expensive. I have an adorable piece that has a tiny teapot on top
of a cup.
Very pretty pieces, especially when you're serving a pie or casserole in them.

I looove Boleslawiec Pottery (Boleslawiec is a little town in Poland,
i wouldn't call it "Polish Pottery", as it's hardly the only pottery
manufactured in Poland ;))! It's all hand made and has this artisanal
feel to it, it's so, I don't know, authentic I guess lol. I live in
Poland and I can't belive those prices on QVC!

It's nice to hear from our international posters. Just curious but what
do you pay for the pottery? I love the patterns. I have no Polish
pottery but have several pieces from Italy, Spain, Greece and Mexico.
