I know that we're supposed to brush suede to raise the nap and remove dry
dirt, but I've never found it to be very helpful in the dirt department.
I thought another option was to use one of those "art gum" erasers that
you get
at an art supply store. I've never tried it myself, though.

I would be very afraid that this would just smear the dirt or worse. Now
I'm even thinking that a vacuum cleaner with the little brush attachment
would be a good first line attack on driedon dirt on suede.
