La Mer liquid foundation in shell – found with the help of AF's
foundation queen, long may she reign. It feels great going on, very
soothing, and provides coverage without being masklike. I decided I had
the correct shade after checking the mirror in different lighting. Most
foundations that are fair enough for me are way too yellow (Bobbi Brown
is just bizarre if you ask me). Shell is just right, not too pink, not
too red, and not chalky.

I was matched by the SA.

I agree that it is a great foundation, however you have to be VERY careful
about moisture getting into the product, as it will harden. There are those
tiny holes in the pocket for the sponge but they aren't enough. Replace your
sponge every 2–3 uses, if you can. I've used this before and loved it. I just
couldn't keep the moisture out and I ended up wasting so much product when
digging out the parts that had hardened.
The coverage and light feel are not matched, IMHO.

I recommend using a powder brush to apply it. A sponge makes it look to
heavy and cakey.

Not sure I'd call it the "holy grail" but it's pretty darn close:
L'Oreal True Match. Perfect match, glides on, gives great coverage,
feels good, and doesn't cost a fortune.
Only downsides: seems to rub off on my clothes more than other
foundations, and yet, it stays on all day, and needs a little more
effort than most to remove completely at night. Something about the
formula also leaves an awful mess on the bar soap when you go to wash
your hands after applying it. Still, the disadvantages are outweighed
by the advantages.
and just how do you decide you have the correct shade???
I took an online test at L'Oreal, which directed me to the correct
shade. Then, when I was at the drugstore recently to buy my second
bottle, I saw that the display had transparent thing–a–ma–jigs that you
could hold up to your face to see how each shade would look on your
skin. I tried this out, and ended up determining the online suggestion
was right on target.

No, because if they added SPF30 it would change the formula and would no longer
be perfect, unfortunately.
That's what happened to the BB oil–free liquid foundation, which I liked before
the SPF 15 was added.

I agree about the Aveda product. I love it as it is the closest match to my
skin color with Linen, however it has the hardening problem I stated earlier
with MAC Studio Fixx. I only wish they packaged it in smaller "doses" so it
stays fresh longer. I am quirky in that I need my make–up to be fresh all the
time; in my cosmetics bag and on my face.

I have several that I really like. RMK Creamy foundation is
excellent, I mix two shades together, 102 and 103, (I'm MAC C3) and
alter the color further with Shu Uemura color correctors in red and
yellow. Most people will probably not need to do this, I'm just real
orangey. I love this foundation because it covers well and can double
as a concealer and yet not have that sticky finish and really
disappears into your skin...with proper application. I also like Make
Up For Ever foundations––the Face and Body is great for light coverage
and again, my main thing with foundation is that it should "meld" and
disappear, and not sit there and get cakey––I'm ultra picky about
this. For more coverage, I use their other full coverage one, forget
the name. Highly recommended.

So far I have found no HG foundation. :–( Though L'Oreal Tru Match and
MAC Studio Fix come close. They just can't control my oilies well
enough. But, they do look great, at least I think so.
For the True Match I used those little transparent thingies with the
shades on them and then the Walgreens SA put a dot on me with the
testers they had then. (that was when it first came out)
For the MAC, an SA matched me.
I still have two foundations I need to test Maybelline Dream Matte
Mouse and the L'Oreal Cashmere Perfect.

Bare Esscentuals Mineral Foundation.
Once I tried this, out went every other liquid, powder, cream–to–powder
foundation – and I had tried and kept many.
Right now, I mix 1.2(fairly light) with a bit of 2.3. Usually 2.3 (medium)in
the summer with a faux tan. Really easy to mix.
I may try other mineral foundations, but I'd never want to go back to the other
types again.

*CG Clean Makeup in Ivory 05...has always been my HG, but I am truly LOVING
Loreal Cashmere Perfect in Classic Ivory. This stuff is amazing. It feels
like it evaporates into my skin, just the right color, nice fragrance, and good
oil control. It feels like a higher end product to me. HTH. I never did
really find any good higher end foundations that suited me because I always
ended up making a $50 mistake from a silly SA who would not match me right, and
that I don't have access to higher end stuff unless I order it online (even
bigger chance to make a bad mistake!).

I use their Handi brush for application and it makes my skin virtually

the only other foundation I use is EA Flawless Finish stick which goes

I admit, my name is Cheryl and I am a foundation addict.....
But, I really have been trying to control myself and the one
foundation that I get the most compliments on my "skin" dermablend
cover cream. The way I use it, scoop out a tiny (very tiny) bit and
warm on the top of my hand, apply with fingertips for sheer coverage,
or makeup brush, let dry for about 5 mins, while I apply my eye makeup
and then with a concealer brush (my favorite WTF) dab on over any dark
spots, blemishes, etc. then using the Laura Mercier method, with a
large powder puff, roll on the white setting powder. I swear this
foundation stays on all day pefect finish.

I have to second this recommendation. You do need pretty good skin, but it
gives a very healthy, glowy look as is mentioned below. It makes your skin
