Foundation and Blemishes

"Jamie" <zuschlag–sequ...@tds.net>
I've had a problem this week with a couple of cystic pimples and it made me
wonder. I've been using Olay Regenerist and it seems to not agree with my
skin. This would be a first (maybe second) for products and my skin. I
started to feel hard pimples under the skin and have a spot on my chin that
is angrily blocked. I've never had any sort of acne, even in teenage years,
so this is HIGHLY unusual. You can be sure that it's product. Anyway, as I
applied my makeup today, I wondered how many of you apply foundation over
your blemishes to hide them and who applies it around (as I do). I've
always felt as though foundation applied over pimples only draws attention
to the area, what with the flaking and the raised area.
Mine is sore, slightly open (as I've picked to unblock it) and I just can't
justify putting foundation over the area. I had to take my son to the
pediatrician today (following his 3rd day of almost 103 degree temperature),
and was worried about what I'd look like. I decided to not try to cover it
and let it breathe. This approach seems to be working as it is healing
wonderfully. I know that some put cover over it and then foundation.
Doesn't it take much longer to heal? I was just curious about what everyone
thought.

I had the same problem with Olay Total Effects as I got toward the end of
the bottle – I think that both products (I've used Regenerist with the same
effect) really does bring your skin back to its youth, pimples and all! I
generally switch between them, I'll use Total Effects until it runs out,
then use a really simple moisturiser (nivea or something), then return to
it. No pimples now!
I can't really cover my pimples when I get them, some green concealer with
foundation over the top would work though.
Cheers,
Kat

I use my Jane Iredale pressed powder in Bisque and apply that to my chin..that
area tends to break out the most for me. I still use good ol' Clearasil on
break out spots at night and that seems to hurry along the healing process.

My skin is pretty good now but I will get an occasional pimple,
sometimes the cystic kind. I think creams can add to the break out
especially if they are the wrong kind. A good peel is good for the
skin, so try switching to a glycolic acid cleanser and/or a glycolic
acid cream if your skin can take it. I use the regenerist only under
the eye where a good cream is useful and the area is not prone to
break outs.
I must confess that when I have a pimple I do try to do what I can to
peel the skin off (otherwise known as to pick at it). Sorry
regardless of what the advice is, that is what I do. I hate
pimples!!! This seems to hasten it going away. It does not go away by
itself!!!
I put concealing cream (like the type you would put under the eye) on
top of any blemish and maybe blot with some powder. I would do this
of course only if I was going out, in the house I might let it go and
heal up.
My motto with pimples is pick pick pick and conceal conceal conceal.
Cover it up at all costs. It has worked for me. I have very nice
skin and get a lot of compliments, except for the occasional pimple.
I must be doing something right.

i find the best way to cover a blemish is to first prime the blemish
with something moist, like sunscreen or concealer or moisturizer, and then
dab on loose mineral powder with a tiny stiff brush.

I use Shu Uemura Pro Spots Concealer, applied with teeny tiny MUFE eyeliner
brush that I have dedicated to this purpose. (Pro Spots is the stuff that
replaced Shu's Mark Cealer, btw.)

EMD, is it as good as the late lamented Mark Cealer? I'm on my second and
last stashed tube, so I'm more than theoretically interested. :)
thanks,
