What I bought at the Lilly Pulitzer sale

bethmer...@yahoo.com (beth)
I posted earlier about the Phila area Lilly sale.
Arrived Friday morning at 8:50. I was number 506 in line, but really
only waited an hour. I went alone, and chatted with the others in
line about prior Lilly sales (this was my first), so the time passed
quickly. There must have been a few campers, because the floor had a
few discarded pillows and spilled coffee cups.
When I was let in, I hit the petite section first. Grabbed a green
suede mini for $69.00 (retail 150). I then picked up 2 pairs of
pants, neither of which was traditionally Lilly in style: black fine
whale cords and slate blue pin stripe pants with multi color pin
stripes, each about $69. Then, onto capris. I took a pair of these
in a mosaic print, about $59.00. I got my mom a jog set made of super
soft terry in turquoise with a hoodie, about $39 each piece. In
search of a non–strapless dress, I found a nice shift dress in a
Venice Beach pattern with double bows on the back for $69.00. A
friend asked me to get her a shift too, and I scored her a nice one in
a crab pattern on the sample rack for $36! A matching tee for the
capris was $19, and matching shoes were $35. I found a white cardigan
on the seconds table for 9 bucks, it had a coffee stain which washed
out easily. A similar cardigan in pink was $49, of course I bought
this.
I spent way more than I expected, but I know these will get a lot of
wear! BTW, a friend works at the sale each year and told me about
women dropping their clothes to try things on. Not wanting to wait
for the dressing area, I became one of those stripping women!!!

thanks for posting, beth! i'm a veteran of several of these sales in the past
(hi lisa!!) but missed this one. in may, i was the first one at the door, and
when they let me in there were already about 30 'campers' sitting on the floor
(apparently those not within driving distance stay at the hotel). and although
i try to behave, i always end up buying more than i really need... but i'm
still looking forward to the may sale!
