First Sephora Trip

"Liz R" <nospamthank...@nospam.com>
Holy cow... I have never seen so many females in one store at the same time.
What a sight to see! And what was funnier was the bunch of men were
standing outside the store leaning up against the mall railings.
I stayed for a bout 30 minutes, just walking around and taking it all in.
It was totally upbeat in there. I watched a couple of girls get made over.
But, for the most part I was waiting for people to move along to get a
chance to look at some of the products. (I have never had so many people
step on my feet and vice versa.)
I always thought that I would know what I wanted when I got there, but I had
no clue. Some of the brands that were jumping out at me were Tarte,
Bourjois, Vincent Longo, Du Wop, Urban Decay (esp the flavoured body
powder), and Fresh. I ended up coming home with Du Wop Venom Flash (the
gold one) and Bourjois Pump Up the Volume mascara (in Prune Balconnet, which
really does show up nicely on my eyelash tips). Both of these products work
great! The lip venom is a little painful, but my lips are so much fuller
after I use it – and my lips are almost non–existant! I am a mascara
junkie, and have been using Lancome Hypnose for a while now. I think I'll
start alternating with the Bourjois.
I would have bought more, but it was crazy in that store. I'm maybe going
to have to go during the middle of the week, early in the morning and NOT on
a Saturday afternoon.

Same here...I looked at but did not buy the Bourjois mascara, now I may have to
purchase this one also.
Sephora is a fun shopping experience when it is less crowded and you can
actually get close to all the displays.

Wow, it must be because of the holiday season. I've been to a few Sephora
stores and I've never seen them crowded, though I mostly have shopped at the
Times Square Sephora (the one next to GMA studios) that is HUGE!
One thing I've noticed in all the Sephora stores I've been in is that there is
always plenty of service staff to help you out if you have questions. I always
have questions for the Kiehl products, but it is a ruse to get tons of free
samples for my travel bag. ;^) Kiehl is the best when it comes to larger
sample sizes. Of course, I've usually made a point to have so many bags of
products I've already purchased there that they know I'm not just some shmoe
walking in off the street trying to get free stuff without actually being a
paying customer.
I do spend hundreds each time I go and I think samples are a perk of being a
good customer and I think it is good business sense for Sephora to do that.
(Actually I think each "station" set up according to brand is worked by
individual company reps, though I'm not sure.)
I will say that I feel pity for the guys who hang around while their women are
shopping. That's cruel and unusual punishment, and all for what? I have never
kept a man waiting while I shop. I would never expect to be kept waiting and
it goes both ways for me.

There were many when associates available during my first visit last
weekend. The store was very busy but I was politely asked 3 times in 20
minutes if I needed help.

You could be right but I didn't get that feeling. The associates seemed to
float pretty freely around the store when I was there and I wasn't really
redirected to anyone else when I had questions.

My DH enjoyed the quick trip (20 minutes, as we were trying to get back on
the road). He knew that when I said 20 minutes, I would pretty much stick
to it. But I enlisted his help to scout out various 'stations' for me in
advance so that I could be ready to hit them next as I moved from one to the
other. He was the perfect man for the job and acquiesced without complaint.
He enjoyed seeing a lot of the products that he'd heard me mention and
brought a couple to mind for me that I'd forgotten.
