Linda Gray's dress from Dallas reunion. Need help!

I have been invited to an Inaugural ball. Have also fallen in love
with the red off the shoulder dress Linda Gray had on for the Dallas
reunion on TV last week. (I believe it was a Donna Karan). Link to

Two questions – would that be an appropriate dress to wear the
Inauguration? And since I am nowhere NEAR financially able to afford
THAT dress, anybody have any links or suggestions to point me to
something similar? and less expensive?

Look at designers such as Allen Schwartz, ABS, or Victor Costa who do
incredible knockoffs.
