OT? Need Hair Help PLEASE!!

"FashionDiva" <winnipeg...@gmail.com>
Hello all.
Sorry if this is OT but I really need some help. I have past shoulder length
naturally curly medium brown hair. I have lost 90lbs in the last year and a
half and my first problem is my hair keeps falling out, my hair also fell
out when I had my children. I have very thin hair so this doesn't help at
all. Is there anything I can do to stop it from falling out? I lost weight
with Weight Watchers so I eat a balanced diet. My second problem is my hair
seems to be breaking around the crown, leaving me with large sections of 2
inch pieces that stick out everywhere. I don't know what to do about this. I
read that people with dry curly hair should only be washing their hair twice
a week. I wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner everyday. If I was to
switch to twice a week, does this mean I shouldn't wet it either or is it
just the shampooing and conditioning I should cut back. Also, what products
are good for dry curly hair.....I live in Canada so that might limit
availibilty for me.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

I can't help with product recs because my hair is the opposite of yours, but if
your hair is falling out and breaking I *strongly* suggest getting your thyroid
levels checked. This can be done with a simple blood test.

See a dermatologist as soon as possible. Don't expect OTC cosmetic hair
products to solve your problem. You must find out what's causing the
problem.

Emphatically seconding this. I went through months of hair breakage/falling
out and attributed it to stress. Finally I saw my doctor two months ago and
learned it was, in fact, my thyroid. It's worth checking into.

See your physician ASAP. This might be caused by a hypo– or hyper–
thyroid condition, and could be serious.

I agree with everyone who has encouraged you to have your thyroid checked.
Something that helps hair growth is Evening Primrose Oil capsules. Three a
day! They really do help encourage hair growth.

That's a symptom of thyroid problems...
The way things are going, the whole world may be on Synthroid. :–(
