help figuring out fashion message–– Versace?

I have gone out with K a couple of times. My housemate
says that K's Versace eyeglasses are a sign that he is gay
or at least bi. I know that this is not cut and dried and you
can't make judgements based on one thing like this. However
my housemate says that this is a kind of "known signal"
that I should be aware of. Is there any truth in this?
PS I don't mean this question to be against gay people
at all. Also, I know that in the best of all worlds simply
asking would be sufficient but sometimes it doesn't
work that way.
