Givenchy eye shadows

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
Does anyone use these? There is an appealing display of them in this
month's O. Of course they are close to $50 for each quad. I still
haven't tried Christian Dior shadows. This fall I'm enjoying the
Francesca Guerrera shadows I purchased a year ago as well as MAC
goldbit. I'll look at some of the MAC shadows next weekend. What eye
shadows are you using now?

Good thread!
I love MAC, but I am still loving the Revlon Wet/Dry quads, I have the
Violet Haze but my all time favorite is the Silver Linings set. I have a few
La Bella Donna and just recently bought an Isadora Mauve one from
Walgreen's. Chanel hasn't worked for me except for the Vanities quad
and Fracas single––they just do not last. I also have the Sunrays quint
by Dior, it's OK but I prefer the Hard Candy set in Delusional, which
is similar, i.e., light colors that 'flash' yellow, blue, pink or green––nice
for a base or highlight. If pinned down to one brand, it's MAC for me,
though Revlon would win if not for the limited colors. Garden Botanika
shadows were good, but I don't really want to order them sight unseen
through the net.

Audrey: where did you see these? I don't recall these in any store recently.

You prompted me to look up the couple of MAC shadows I'm still using––and
both are discontinued. One is Violet Dear, a deep violet with subtle
sparkle; the other is Early Morning, a matte blue–gray. I have a lot of MAC
shadows that I managed to collect but have rarely, if ever, used. Most are
things I ordered and never liked at all––some are way too sparkly for me.
Others I just forget to use.
My main shadow these days is Benefit Creaseless Creme. Unfortunately, the
ones I adore are discontinued, too, though I can occasionally score one on
ebay or MUA... If I want to intensify the effect of whatever BCC I'm
wearing, I'll top it off with a powder shadow, often the Violet Dear.
I have so many eye shadows that I know I could live to be 100, wearing
shadow every day, and never use them up. Still, my hg shadow is Paint
Cosmetiques "Rain" (which looks nothing like the swatch on their site), a
medium beige powder with very subtle sparkle; I've "hit pan" on two of them
in the past 18 months. (I can't remember ever hitting pan on a shadow
before.) Paint's Dusk is also a favorite of mine, a blue–purple that I use
at the outer edge and in the crease. Acquiring the Paint shadows is a
nuisance for me; I have to phone a salon in Connecticut or pay outrageous
shipping to get them online. Still, I love the quality and "Rain" is
fabulous. (I'm sure it would be gorgeous on you, Audrey, if you are
interested in a neutral shade.)

nice thread Audrey!
what am I using? the new Delux cream to slightly powder shadows in pink
blonde.
also Laura Mercier morning dew (trying to use it up!)
a variety of different creams or powders in the crease
if it's cream, it's either eyeslides from pout in pink or linda cantello
eyeslicks in copper (aloha) with a bit of Mac pigments to grab the pigment
also using some Nars colors in the crease or on the lid..
today however I am using Mac powerpoint in the permaplum, mercier morning
dew and a bit of Wild Thing from Dorf in the crease and outer corner plus
mac wine under lower lashes blended out.
bobbi brown lash glamour in black and then a coat of paula dorf blackberry
over that
been doing some cream shadows but loving the delux in rosy pink.. pops the
green in my eyes!

I am very very pleased with the Chanel quad eye shadow I bought while
shopping with Audrey. Don't remember the name but it has a white (not a stark
white though,) beigey– peach, pale pink and an expresso color. The color lasts
and lasts all day.

I think that is the "Influences" quad.

The Givenchy shadows are on page 173 of O. I haven't seen them in a
store. I am so satisfied with my oldMAC, Bobbi Brown and Francesca
Guerrera that I haven't bought any new shadows other than Chantecaille
topaz shine and the MAC goldbit. I mean how can I not keep MAC shroom
or ricepaper, the many BB neutrals etc. ?

That's how I feel about MAC Vex and now, as the lovely Cofarb pointed
out, Early Morning (disc). I have to admit, I do like the GB version of
Vex, less shimmery.

Never tried Givenchy and at those prices, I better not either! Do have a
couple of CD solos. These powders feel so fabulous, it's a good thing I have
brows to stop me from applying them on my forehead. Just the loveliest
texture. The other ones that are great are the MAC Veluxe. Beautiful stuff.
I just bought a Shiseido which I also like very much (compact has a mirror –
nice little feature). One brand I will never buy again is LancĂ´me. The
compact is cheap and difficult to open and when you do manage to open it,
the powder flies all over the place (cheap packaging in their Color Dose eye
cream too – the labelling comes off and little bits get stuck everywhere –
product itself is great though.). Not impressed. Clinique doesn't impress me
either. Nothing remarkable about their textures or pigments. A drugstore
brand that I love is Annabelle (in Canada) – fabulous texture, pigment and
colours. In all, I've got about 20 eye shadows and since I don't wear the
stuff every day, I doubt I'll ever hit pan on any of them. But they're so
tempting. All those pretty colours neatly lined up...irresistible. And so,
the collection grows and gets purged when guilt comes around.

haven't tried the givenchy, but if you're determined, check ebay.
may be able to find them at a discount. my faves are the CD quints.
i have about 10. got them on ebay and the holiday kits that CD does
every year. it's usually a quint + full size l/s + mascara and
small fragrance sample in a fabric cosmetic bag, all for the price of
a quint.
