What are *you* wearing today?

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
It is supposed to be 68 degrees but we began the day with a very foggy
morning. We are supposed to have more rain this evening. I have to
find Halloween costume items for the middle child and send them off to
her and then do a few errands before my service group chapter meeting at
noon. Dinner is homemade minestrone soup.

Given that I work at home and am going out to cover a fashion show tonight (LA

wearing:

*Hair pulled back in a crochet flower scrunchy I bought at Children's Place.
Now I know it doesn't get any more glamorous than this but all you ladies––give
it a try!

now stay indoors and dry before work this afternoon. Dinner tonight is

62 degrees Started off the day with intestinal pains that I have been
hoping would go away for the past two weeks. I spent the first part of
the morning at the doctor and the second part at a previously scheduled
annual eye exam. My eyes were dilated and glasses taken so I could get
new lenses in my old frames. I can't find my previous clear glasses so
either I'll wear the sunglasses all day or have slightly hazy vision for
the next week. I missed going to the Macy's benefit shopping day and
worse, I am hosting a book club dinner party this evening. I made a
Bosc pear pink lady apple crisp and my son made a flourless chocolate
torte. The rest of the dinner is catered other than hors d'oeurves and
I'll be dining on Cipro and saltines. This day really sucks.

I took Cipro for a urinary tract infection and it worked very well.
Be sure to take some food with your pill if you can and make sure
that you take all the pills that they prescribe. Stopping early
can cause lots of problems (including helping to evolve Cipro
resistant bugs).

62 degrees What began as a damp, foggy morning may turn out into a nice
sunny day. I began the day with three layers of clothes to walk in the
fog wearing a white turtleneck, heather green Nordstrom sweatpants and
shirt, white LE thermafleece jacket, white knit hat, tennis shoes and
socks. I forgot gloves. This morning the decorator and a woman from a
tile company are coming to the house so we can finalize color and design
for the granite kitchen countertops. I have lunch at 11:30 with a
girlfriend and then in the early evening friends are coming for dinner
before the Fresno State/Hawaii football game. I would love to stay home
and just watch the game on ESPN but I'll be a good sport and go with the
guys to see the massacre. Hawaii has an awesome quarterback and there
is no love between the two teams. Anyway for this fun day packed with
activities I think I can get by with one outfit.
H&M red heavy cotton sweater, collar and belt type tie at the neckline
Lauren red tee under the sweater
Saks Real Clothes charcoal stretch fit slacks
charcoal Tarjay socks

near me spills a drink)
red Ellen Tracy double faced wool jacket
multi–colored wool scarf, an ahmward creation

Sunny and in the 40s today, brrrr. Emboldened by Audrey's decision (and I hope

all to myself (ahhhhh) and then an early show at a club in with with friends
coming up from Richmond, I wear:

usual diamond and sapphire rings
silver faced watch (elongated rounded rectangular face––like an old TV set)
with a row of rhinestones on both sides on a striped grosgrain ribbon band
(grey/pale pink/brown/purple/yellow/sky blue)
When we go out, I will swap my favorite slippers (scarlet satin mules with a

62 degrees After a very rainy cold night, the rain looks like it is now
in southern CA and we will have a dry weekend. The one outfit was
perfect for all of yesterday's activities though for the football game I
wore my Anne Klein black wool coat with BR brooch of 2004 on the lapel,
red tencel lined leather gloves for Target, the red wool scarf and a red
and black stadium blanket. I was still cold. Too many people left
early. The score was 70–14 in favor of Fresno State and the smart ones
were probably at home watching ESPN2 in front of their fireplaces . The
guys took pity on me and we left at the end of the third quarter. Today
after house chores DH and I are going to buy a sink, faucet and stove
for the kitchen remodel. We are home for dinner this evening (mahoghany
beef stew with basmati rice) and I may just wear my comfy outfit all day
including errands.

66 degrees My husband refers to this November weather as balmy.
Yesterday was a stellar day for getting things done. I bought gifts for
DD's Firenze host family, our nephew, DH and the kids. DH and I chose
our new kitchen sink and faucet, Kohler executive chef and Grohe Alira,
went to another place to finalize our choice of stove and hood, Dacor
30" dual fuel and GE monogram stainless island vent hood, Office Max for
a new bookcase, and Costco for all sorts of goodies. My only outfit
change was a RL white cotton cable pullover instead of the UCLA
sweatshirt. The best part of the day was we didn't have to pay for the
kitchen stuff because the people we dealt with said there was no need to
place the order before the 1st of December. That put DH in a great mood
for the other errands. Today other than hitting the ATM I plan to be at
home for more household chores and finding a place in the yard for my
sweet pea seeds.

I'm going to badly mangle the description, because I am not up–to–speed on

It was a "baby taupe" silk Jessica McLintock number, strapless. She also wore
her Tiffany WG signature bits and pieces and some pretty snazzy shoes she found

I'm tucked into a fur throw on the couch after today's big surprise – a root
canal. My sinus headache/flu that has been bothering me for almost 2 weeks has
finally calmed down enough for me to realize that the aching teeth are gone,
but a toothache remained...
retail therapy begins tomorrow morning promptly at 10.

MONDAY... Tossed two bags of trash. Off to work. One meeting, did some
self–induced stock churning around lunch, wrote the rest of the time.
Came home to a number of things including three copies of the 2004
edition of "Yes, You Can... Achieve Financial Independence" by James
Stowers (founder of American Century Investments) – one for me, two
for gifts to my 26–year–old nephews who are probably young enough to
learn something from it (half–price offer to American Century
customers). Had tortilla soup and quesadillas for supper, then
watched TV for a while. For the day:

64 degrees I was up at the crack of dawn to head out to Tuesday
Morning. Actually I arrived at 7:01 and two gentleman were already in
line with the Le Creuset they grabbed. Two ladies were standing in
front of the display complaining about the men and how they had
grabbed the blue dishes and I kept having to say excuse me as I tried
to walk around them to get what I wanted. My score was a 3 1/2 qt
green French oven, 2 13" green oval dishes and a 7.25 qt green French
oven (Le Creuset doesn't use the word "Dutch"). I was pleased. On my
way home I picked up a carpet cleaning machine from the local grocery
store to work on the room that was painted yesterday. Later this
morning I am looking at granite samples for countertops and then I'll
work in the afternoon.

LOL! Before I learned I–Wei's "sexy librarian" nickname, a friend of
mine used that phrase to refer to glasses that have small, fairly
pronounced frames.
Come to think of it, I don't know that I want my eyewear characterized
in quite that way.

Y'gotta admit, a sexy librarian conjures up a far better mental image (i.e.
someone who knows the "good parts" of, say, The Decameron or some particularly
ribald bit of Sanskrit poetry) than does the Weimar Republic, with its images
of people putsching in Beer Halls all the damn time.

Yes, but in Poetic Badgers's case, the tenor is too close to the
metaphor. See, everyone knows she actually IS a librarian.
I just didn't want people to think I actually thought I was sexy, lol.

Well, even if you were somehow wildly delusional about your appeal...it's STILL
a damned sight better than the Weimar Republic.

the films of Murnau and Lang.

Just to correct the record (and to keep the tenor away from the metaphor
so as to assuage la trilling Trilby), I have no formal education as a
librarian (BA in Econ & an MBA in Marketing/Info Sciences), but I fell
into it (the library, metaphorically speaking and without tenor on
usenet) when I moved from DC (where I had been living and working at the
time) to MPLS in '01 to care for my mother when she was receiving
treatments for cancer.
She suggested I take a PT job so I wouldn't constantly hover over her (I
think she suggested I do that, and not because she wanted me away from
her but because she wanted me to have something to moor me after she was
gone). That PT library job began mostly working with databases but
morphed into something more along the way. I met DH shortly after I moved
to MPLS, and so I stayed in MPLS for the obvious reasons, or at least
they seem obvious to me. While I was living in MPLS, I continued working
as a librarian, but in the private sector. All that said, I'm not working
as a librarian now and doubt I ever will again, unless one counts one's
personal library, so your protests may as well fall on John Dewey's ears.

At any rate, it's funny how life takes its turns and how much the concept
of a librarian has changed over the years, all for the better, IMO.
