Am I the only one...

MicheleH <mharvey...@NOT.cox.net>
who thinks 99.9% of the Juicy Couture handbags are uglyuglyugly? It was so
depressing today at the VA NM, when I couldn't find any Furla bags at all,
but there were loads of JC bags *everywhere*. Is this one of those age
things, where I'm just too old (i.e. over 35) to see the appeal of these?
Michele, who settled for a red boarskin KS Sam bag instead

Michele,
You are not the only one! I think many, many things are not for me
anymore – I am well over 35 :). Your new bag sounds wonderful.

I'm 31 and I think lots of things most people rave about are nothing
special, and often very ugly. People just like it cos it's *in*, or cos of
the brand name.

cannot stand juicy couture. I won't buy it. (if it was given to me, I might
keep it) but I don't like the bags, I do like the sweaters but leave off the
initials. I think this is a case of hype overriding common sense

so
Carol and I were shopping in the NM handbag dept at the same time as a
girl who was in her teens. She was telling the SA about her Juicy bags
etc. We didn't even look at them. The Y generation spends a lot of
money so Juicy has its niche.

I'm 21 and even I think they're ugly. They also look incredibly tacky. Isn't
JC supposed to be catering to my age group? ;)
Then again, I don't yearn for any of the "trendy" labels (JC, VonDutch, 555
Soul, etc...).

Or because it costs a lot of money, so they're wearing the price tag by
wearing the product, or feel that they are. I think it's kind of sad when a
person doesn't have the wherewithal to realize that you could look just as
hot and still save money.

No! The handbags are ugly, the jewelry is ugly, a big ick from me.

Yes, but have you seen the JC Barbies? My 3.5 y/o is coveting them–

Um, I don't think so. Not at her age.
I do like the Versace one though, still I'm not sure I'd purchase it (and I've
got a whole stash of collector barbies for her)–

I agree, Michele. It amazes me how every season things just get uglier and
uglier. I used to go shopping and find dozens of things to buy. Now everything
is so ugly and cheap looking that I often come home with nothing. For some
reason, some people buy things based on the name just to "fit in" and "be like
everyone else". I definitely agree with Stevie's opinion of hype overriding
common sense in this and many other instances.

Yup. The JC bags look like something the women of that HBO show 'Family
Bonds' would carry. Plus they are all so big – more like overnight
cases than handbags.

Good for you. I have a KS Monkey bag and love it. KS has great designs and
I'm rarely disappointed. I used it last summer and had a ball doing it. You
always get great compliments with KS.

Many of the designs look like knockoffs themselves (Birken, Louella, etc.),
only with Juicy emblems, etc.

I'm 30 and some of them don't appeal to me, so I don't think it's age–
related. But if others like them it doesn't bother me.
