What I Bought This Week...shopping in Phoenix

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
I continued my search for Christmas gifts as well as for items on my
wish list. I finally found "the handbag" for the season at Saks. It is
a Furla deep burgundy leather called velvet rose and the style is
Anchor. It has two silver rings in the front on the leather strap and
two on the opposite side in the back of the bag, a cell phone holder and
zippered compartment inside. There is no picture on the Saks site. I
also bought a large pump bottle of Kiehl's Cream de Corps. Last year I
promised myself to do this and I finally got around to it. The lighter
fragrant lotions will be put in the cupboard until the warm weather is
back again. I bought these items on Wednesday but on Friday DH went
shopping with me at the same center and we returned to Saks to find a
sweater for the middle child. We ended up with a rose pink silk and
cashmere sweater with a cowl neckline. I persuaded DH to go to the
Allen Edmonds store where he purchased a new pair of black shoes. The
style is Cortland.
At the hotel there is a Lily shop, Pink Saguaro. I found the perfect
sweater for the youngest child, a v–neck argyle lambswool in pink, red,
gray and black.
On Thursday I met my favorite AZ shopping partner Carol Corb. Carol made
me a beautiful crystal bracelet. She remembered an aqua Dana Buchamn
top I owned and sure enough I was wearing it on Thursday. It is my AZ
top :) She took me to Arcadia Farms for lunch, a lovely ladies who lunch
spot. We watched the storm front move through the area, quite
spectacularly, and had a wonderful lunch. After lunch we went to the
Scottsdale Mall. She shopped for makeup at the Chanel counter and also
searched for shoes. I had spent an hour at the mall before lunch and
was quite lucky in the Nordstrom shoe dept. I aked if they had Delman
flats and the SA told me there was just one pair of black ballet flats
in a size 11 special ordered for a customer who did not want them. Now
they are mine :) I also bought a pair of red Stuart Weitzman loafers to
replace the ones from Talbots I never liked http://tinyurl.com/4lpgg
I also bought makeup for the girls for Christmas, Stila Kitten, Too
Faced extreme black lava gloss and Chanel chahut shadow.
At BR I bought brooches for the girls and me, a flower for me with 8 red
stones in the outer part, 8 smaller turquoise stones inside and a green
stone in the middle on a gold setting. For the girls I bought tiny
bumblebees with pink stones in the center.
Shopping is awesome in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and I hope to be back
next March.

And we here in the Valley would be happy to have you :–)
I see that you spent some time at the Biltmore. Just for future
reference: the MAC store is fan–freaking–tastic there. It's standard
as far as the cosmetics goes, but the staff is just terrific.
Oh, and the chocolate and peanut butter malts at Haagen Dazs are out
of this world. Ain't nothin' like 'em.

isn't Carol the BEST!! she does amazing jewelry.
sounds like you had a fabulous time!

Unfortunately, my jaunt to PHX didn't QUITE coincide with yours! :–(
I was in town all of a whopping 25 hours and so my shopping was negligible (but
I did have dinner at Lon's) and the Royal Palms resort verily rocks.
I'm hoping to be able to go again (with a bit more time) to catch the
Barrett–Jackson auction. At any rate, I *did* get to buy this:

A cup of coffee (tea for me) or a margarita at The Roaring Fork is in order
then in late January, Joe!!

That is major shopping. The wife needs more than a BV handbag.

How'd ya like it? We had seats on the courtyard area, which afforded me
exposure to vistas I don't get to see here in SoFla. I also had the hermosa
salad, braised short ribs and pear tart.

Well, I'd be there more for the socializing and looking than anything else.
Auctions are GREAT for selling but lousy for buying.

The storm cooled down the temperature on Thursday so I switched our
reservations from outdoors to the Stetson room. DH had a buck antelope
appetizer with a small tamale and corncake. He had the salad with the
mustard viniagrette, marinated pork and the pear tart. I had the salad
with the citrus viniagrette on the side, the marinated lamb and blood
orange sorbet for dessert. He thought my dessert was better than the
tart. On Saturday at the local bistro I had a bitter almond granita
with thinly sliced pears from the Fioli gardens. Now it's back to
dessertless boot camp.

Audrey,
I was mildly disappointed in the short ribs. They were cut "flanken" style
which I think is the lesser of the two ways to go. The pear tart was pretty
good, but mostly because I usually decide to not dive into the crust which, in
this case, seemed a bit more substantial than I would prefer.
The horseradish mashed potatoes were a hit, as were the braised mushrooms and I
also enjoyed the salad your husband had. Yum!

Yay! That's the item you've been shopping for lately, n'est–ce pas? Is is
being shipped? How soon until you get to "wear" it in RL? I bet you are just
giddy over this.

Verily!
Is it being shipped?
Should be picked up today...if it hasn't already.
How soon until you get to "wear" it in RL?
Nov. 5th or 6th. It (ObFash) even comes with a snazzy wallet/keycase/attache'
combo AND a rilly, rilly cool Swatch.
I bet you are just giddy over this.
I will be! Suffice it to say this car is insanely, ridiculously, unjustifiably
fast.
