Bday presents for a 12 y.o.

shinypenny0...@yahoo.com
Asked DD–nearly–12 what she wants for her upcoming bday, and the answer
was, "Clothes, and MORE clothes!" :–)
Specifically on her wish list this year:
– A miniskirt and tights that she can wear to the next school dance
(I'm thinking something in plaid with pleats, similar to one she tried
on at Sears awhile ago when we were back–to–school shopping... I said
no then because 1) mom had a heart–attack because it was one of those
dawning moments when I realized she really isn't my little girl
anymore! and 2) this kid has never worn skirts and has long hated
dresses, so I was doubtful she'd really wear it... but now she's
telling me all the girls in middle school dress up for the school
dances.)
– A black, brown or navy blue solid dress that goes to her knee and not
longer, that she can wear at her upcoming choral concert (insisted she
does *not* want anything with a floral pattern "yuck!" or that goes to
her ankles)
– A winter jacket, something with fur around the collar and cuffs, that
she can wear as an alternative to her usual, bulky ski jacket
– Pierced ears (she's not getting that... our agreement was to wait
until she's 13 and I'm standing firm on that)
– Cute shoes (I told her that's something she needs to try on so we'll
wait until after her bday)
– A hat like this http://tinyurl.com/3qp8k... never knew they called
them "newsboy" hats??
– Something with a leopard print, like my new purse, which she adores,
but not a shirt or pants ("too much leopard – I just want an accent
piece like maybe a belt or shoes")
– Surprisingly, she said "no" to Ugg's! All last year and before school
started, this was one of the major "wants" on her list. I guess in 6th
grade they're passe already?
She told me that she's depending on me to buy her the fashionable
stuff, because I "get it" and her dad doesn't. She says all the clothes
her dad bought her this year are too geeky.
So I'm headed off to ON over my lunch break today, because I checked
their site and it looks like they have some good choices. Hate to spend
too much $ since she's growing like a weed lately. She's also getting
an assortment of stuff from Lush, which she's been begging for lately.
Hit Lush this weekend and have the bag hidden in the closet....
Since her bday is so close to xmas, I usually stock up now and hold
some of the gifts for xmas. So, while I'm at it, does anyone have any
other suggestions, something she hasn't considered yet on her own, that
I could surprise her with? For the fashionable 6th grader?
