What are *you* wearing today

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
68 degrees and buckets of rain Last Wednesday it was 90 degrees. I
was wearing shorts. The weather change came on Saturday and the rain
was supposed to end early this morning. NOT When I left home to walk it
was clear and by the time I was a mile away, it began to rain. I felt
pretty stupid as I completed the walk totally drenched. I hadn't even
worn my new LE jacket to test its water repellant fabric. Oh, well.
This morning after drying off and household chores I have to prepare a
short presentation for a noon Rotary meeting where I will receive a
generous donation for my service organization.
Kasper green, gold and brown tweed suit, blazer style jacket and short
straight skirt
thin green cashmere jewel neck pullover
Limoges brooch on the jacket....oval gold braid around the outside and a
pastoral scene of a lady sitting down with a man behind her
gold earrings (three colors of gold intricately wrapped) from Thailand,
gold rope bracelet and watch
dark brown Stuart Weitzman pumps
dark brown woven leather Desmo shoulder bag
Burberry trench coat and a small red umbrella
Audrey
"Frayed" <fra...@ix.netcom.comnobush>
Gap boot cut dark jeans
AT mock turtle neck in navy
Black CH boots
Silver earrings
Karine Dupont bag in blues and black
Bringing but not wearing black Tarjay leather jacket

There are places to go... TJ Maxx, H&M, Marshalls, Loehmann's, outlet
stores, Target, Sephora, MAC. Ulta, thrift stores, the ritzy
department stores. You know, bascially wherever cofarbucks can be earned.
You could have a spot of coffee or tea in a cozy coffeeshop.Or you
could head to nice bar and have a Cosmopolitan.
You could go see a "chick flick", or go to a theatre production.
All of these would be even more fun with some galpals.
These are things that I think of and would do if I had more time and
waa less shy.

Okay, I *did* go to B.J.'s in my chic chick outfit. It occurred to me that
it wasn't any more trouble to be "all dressed up" than it would have been to
wear an equivalent slobby outfit.
Living in a tourist mecca, I see a huge variety of styles of dress. Tons of
slobs, that's for sure. But I notice that the Japanese tourists always look
terrific. Not necessarily fancy, but always clean, tidy, coordinated...no
"I'm With Stupid" or "I Heart ..." t–shirts. And these are folks who've
shlepped thousands of miles, often with very young children. If *they* can
look "just so", it shouldn't be too much trouble for me to look tolerably
put together on any given day. (Bob knows I've got enough clothes and
cosmetics on hand to make it easy.<G>)

This is the story of my life – I check the forecast every night before bed and
it rarely matches what actually happens the next day. I thought that was just a
Texas thing, but I guess not!
Today is partly sunny, hot, humid but windy. For a low–key Monday in preparation

How exciting! Have a fabulous time, Julie!
Cloudy, hot, unbelievably humid and really just unnecessarily oppressive weather
today. It was 80 degrees when I left the house in the pitch dark at 7am, with
air you could swim through. That is just insane. Wherefore art thou, Autumn?

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it as it's completely different from
just about anything else I've ever done! The problem for the afer: what to
pack, especially as I can take just about as much as I want? I have new shoes
for the famous Martinsville mud (they kind of look like clogs with a back, in
taupe suede and thick, high rubber soles (yes, they're suede, but they were
insanely cheap and they'll be good for what might await me after the rains of
this week), and I know what to take for the projected temperature swings, but
in addition to not knowing if I'll need two sets of clothes per day, I'll have
to leave the really girly stuff home. Sigh.

Oh, did he go from long to short? How did it turn out?
My DH did that a little over a year ago. Went from long, curly hair
down the middle of his back to a very short, conservative, neat cut.
I was more nervous than him, though, since he'd decided he was sick of
long hair and wanted it gone. He had the most gorgeous hair and
looked really good with it (I'm usually not a fan of long hair on
guys), but I was very happy with the short hair. He looked so
different and about 5 years younger, but still very hot :) The only
drawback is that I have to buy my own conditioner now – no more
sharing.

Yes! His hair was below shoulder length and wavy but he would blowdry it
straight, and now it's very short. It looks fabulous, I must say! His hair is so
much healthier looking and it even looks less grey (it's very dark brown, almost
black). I took him to my stylist and she did a great job cutting his hair
according to the texture and where his cowlicks are and whatnot. She does Locks
of Love donations (which is how I found her 2 years ago) so she sent his
ponytail off to them.
I think he was afraid short hair would make him look older and make his face
look fat (he has a very round face with broad features), but I think he looks at
least 5 years younger, several pounds slimmer, and 10 times more handsome than
he already was. :)

When DH announced he wanted to cut his hair, I insisted that he go to
a good hairstylist and not just anywhere since I wanted to make sure
that he got a decent cut to begin with. I told him that after that he
could just go to a regular barber or whoever he wanted. The stylist
we went to also did Locks of Love donations. It sure was weird,
though, seeing that cut–off ponytail!

Working at home today (reviewing technical papers for a company awards
program). I'm wearing my Alaska nightshirt and bulky pink socks, and
will probably not change into anything else :–).

I'm wearing a pair of old RL relaxed fit jeans, a lightweight seafoam
green sweatshirt, a pair of New Balance cross–trainers in white, blue
and grey and my navy Red Sox visor. Good thing that we scientists don't
need to dress up. The Red Sox have won every game on days I wear the
visor and I have my priorities :)
