Plaid Shirts

unknown <unknown>
Hi
Do you prefer tuck–in or tuck–out for long sleeve plaid shirts with:
1. Jeans
2. Khakis (more formal)
3. Slacks (less formal)

For me it would depend much more on the fit of the pants than the style or
fabric of the pants. For tight, straight–leg pants, definitely untucked.
For the others, depending on how loose the pants and how bulky the shirt...

Come to think of it, I have no plaid long sleeve shirts. I steer clear
of shirts in general and prefer sweaters, mostly because the vast
majority of shirts are cut way too long and hit too low on the hip. If
I tuck them in, I end up with a paunchy stomach because of all that
extra material. If I leave them out, it makes my legs look too short.
In general I like tops that hit at the high hip and don't need to be
tucked in. Hides my waist and tummy but doesn't make my already short
legs look even shorter. Ideally, I would wear a shirt tucked into high
waisted pants, but I have difficulty finding shirts that don't have too
much excess fabric/length, and high–waisted pants that aren't an inch
too tight in the waist band.

I prefer the tail–out for myself no matter what type of trouser I wear.

Is this for men or for women?
For men, I always prefer the shirt tucked in. Always. I think men
with their shirts untucked look either like grunge rockers (Kurt
Cobain) or drunk fratboys (Jimmy Kimmel in his "Man Show" days).
I don't really like plaid shirts on women. However, a straight–cut
bottom hem that falls at the high hip is more attractive with jeans
and khakis, whereas a tucked–in shirttail style is more attractive
with pleated trousers.
