How did you pamper yourself today?

"Sophie" <Sop...@fakeaddress.com>
I used my Kiss My Face Obsessively Organic Jump Start Exfoliating Face Wash,
then my KMF OO Deep Pore Cleansing Mask.
Tonight I will be doing a pedicure (OPI Jewel of India) and manicure (not
sure, probably Essie Marshmallow).
What made you feel/look good today?

I gave myself a full–on facial (mostly Avon stuff):
Avon Anew O2 Gel Cleanser
Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask
Avon Anew Clearly C Serum
Avon Deep Crease Concentrate (on laugh lines and forehead creases)
beComing Eye Wish cream (I really really love this line of products –
I'm addicted to the Cool Current cleanser, and the Brighter Days and
Evening Retreat creams)
Avon Anew Retroactive+ Cream

*aspirin mask mixed with Freeman Cucumber & Ginseng mask
*Clari–T pore strip for nose
*exfoliated feet with pumice stone and also Sally Hansen Pedicure in a Minute
*will exfoliate hands later on with TBS Nut Body Scrub (I love how this stuff
makes my hands so soft)
*will do manicure later on with a pale Essie color, don't know which one yet

Used a shampoo that had minty ingredients and it woke me right up. Used the
straightening iron to have "Movie Star Hair" that was really shiny and
straight.
Saw a movie in the theater instead of renting one. Sat in the newer, nice,
remodeled cushie seats instead of the older, harder "Old school house" ones
on the balcony.
Had lunch at a good restraurant and in a neighborhood where the Autumn
leaves are changing outside of the window and look beautiful.
Wore good perfume and cute shoes when I went out walking. It was windy and I
saw lot of people who were in bad moods and were frowning. I smiled at them
and told myself "I know it's butt cold outside today, but I'm not going to
let it ruin my day. Screw that!!!!".
Oh, and I pampered myself in a long term type of way, hopefully, by making
wise, informed choices. I sent in my Voter's Ballot at the Post Office. You
should, too! Make your voice heard. Don't sit this one out.

Nice topic.
I had a hot bath...twice! I tend to get cold easily. I used a rosemary
bubble bath and La Perla body lotion afterwards.
Mmmmmm.

"Today" is now "yesterday"––I went for a long, freezing mountain bike ride
in a place called Bear Swamp. (My last foray in Bear Swamp landed me in the
e.r.) The pampering came later when I took an extended soak in the hot tub.

i'm glad this ride was less eventful, cofarb! what are you wearing to stay
warm/dry/not overheated for long bike rides in this weather, pray tell? i'm
finding my clothing options to be pretty ineffective in this weather...

I drove to the swamp <g> wearing all of this:
Black silk crewneck long–sleeved undershirt;
Pink fleece pullover hoodie;
Fitted stretchy black workout leggings;
Black nylon wind pants;
Columbia purple hooded "shell" layer (I carried the inside layer which is
a
fleece jacket but didn't use it);
Stretchy chenille gloves (I brought my fingerless biking gloves but it was
too cold to wear them).
Already–ruined running shoes with thick, "world's softest socks".
I put up the hood on my pink fleece hoodie and then put my helmet on on
top
of the hood! It was too damned cold! I was miserably cold until my biking
partner offered up that second pair of gloves to layer under my chenille
gloves. I brought along extra socks and shoes to change into afterwards
in
case I got too wet, but that wasn't a huge issue. I think the silk
underwear is a great, comfortable layer to wear for cycling.
thanks! i wear the silk l/s top and long pants for cycling as well, but i still
end up feeling the wind a bit. and my face... jamming the helmet over the hood,
then trying to wrap a scarf... i feel as if my peripheral vision gets
compromised. i'll be sticking to rides of less than 10 miles each way until
spring.

cofarb, who is probably going to stick with the treadmill for the next few
months (except for snowshoeing, shoveling, etc.)
P.S. In the middle of the swamp, we found a small old family graveyard that
included the grave (or at least the headstone) of a 19–year–old who had
apparently died while serving in the Civil War. We asked him to help bring
our young men and women home quickly and safely.

Michele, read my message in the "Fleece freak" thread. I found some great
fleece workout clothes, including leggings, at Marshall's today. I am
planning to extend my biking season thanks to these goodies. (Just when I
thought I didn't need any more clothes...silly me!)

Had my favorite blend of coffee this morning while making my latte'...Mocha
Java. It was better and richer than the house blend that I normally
drink....yummmm. Also, I used my L'Anza Strait Line hair smoother which I
don't use every day. It smells better than the others and comes in a nicer
taller pump (I got the biggie size up in Canada recently...it's quite
large), so I try to save it behind the other products on the shelf and make
it last long.
Also sent email to a good friend at lunch time and read the long letter that
the friend sent to me. That was nice and is always a way to pamper myself
and laugh. :–)

I *finally* got my nails done. I've been working so much lately that
I'm never able to get to the salon when they're open and my nails were
looking pretty bad. I even broke a nail most of the way off over two
weeks ago and "fixed" (and I use that term loosely) it with loads of
nail glue.
Now I'm sporting a new set of white tips with acrylic and gel over top
and they look gorgeous. I went a bit shorter than I had been since I
have to type so much now.

This morning, Fable shower gel instead of BBW Fresia to layer with
Bond No. 9 Nuits de Noho, then L'Oreal Refinish. It was the third time
I used it and still so far so good! I'm also wearing my emerald and
gold bracelet DH gave me for Xmas last year.
Couldn't get my AM latte before work (the one way I still pamper
myself daily) since it's drizzling, it's late in the week, so DC area
traffic SUCKED more than its usual this morning. I'll run out as soon
as I can break away from here.
How I hope I can pamper myself at lunch, time permitting; heading to a
nearby Sephora to play and window shop :–).

I'm so glad I hang on to products for a while.
Used my Terax Latte shampoo (use that occasionally anyway) and the Crema
conditioner. Was never that thrilled with the Crema, it's best used as a
leave–in but smells *vile* that way. Used it normally today. Feel very
pampered :)
Will do nails tonight, not sure what colors.

Yesterday I finally had time for a mini peel and then I had a French body
polish that was great. Stopped on my way home from the city for an
appointment for a haircut, a mani and a pedi. I hadn't had time to pamper
myself like that since our wedding and after we moved here. It felt great!

I've done a manicure and pedicure for my husband before, as well as a facial
(just putting my facial mask on him). Spas/Salons do those for men now too.
You could use an exfoliating body wash, then a good lotion.

Spas are also for guys and so is nearly everything else women do for
pampering! I say nearly even though I can't think of one thing women do
to pamper themselves that men couldn't also do. My DH is very good about
pampering himself, especially with massages and facials. Sometimes he'll
grab a great close shave before he comes home! :–) I wish he and I could
get away for a spa day like we had before we were married. You could call
around in your area and hopefully you'll find somethig to your taste.
