Report on Brows.

Veronica Moonlit <veronicaMoon...@mchsi.com>
I had them done at my lccal salon where I get my hair
cut/trimeed/colored. (it was time to redo my color) I decided to have
her punch up the color a bit this time. So I sat and read my
magazines during the procedure. Once the coloring was done I took the
Advil I brought with me. My hair only required minor trimming, so
after that and the blow dry I showed her the pictures of the sort of
brow I wanted and I was ushered to a small room with padded reclined
chair.
She said pretty much what AF said: you do it gradually, etc etc, which
was very reassuring that she knew what she was doing. She prepped my
brows, brushing them and putting something on them., Put on the wax,
put on the strips, let it set for a minute and then:
"OMG where's the morphine? Where's the anethesia?"
NOT!
It hurt less than some band aid's I have taken off. The after wax
plucking hurt more. more like a meek ouch than a huge OUCH.
After she finished she put some ointment on them.
Basically they look nicer, next time I go we do a little more so I get
the arch effect I want. I do like my right brow more than my left one,
but she mentioned that always happens how people like one brow more
than the other.
Total cost for my hair and brows was $45.+ 5 dollar tip.

Makeup, it takes believing in. Like a magic carpet, it's belief that
makes it fly. Otherwise, it's just a rug.
If you believe in it, makeup has a magic all it's own.
Of course, makeup is only dime–store magic. But it works well enough,
when it's used properly.",

I'm glad you had a good experience. I love reading your posts. I agree, I
don't think that waxing your brows is that painful. At least, not compared
to say, a brazilian. :) I can't believe that you got your hair cut and
colored plus had your brows waxed for only $45! That's amazing.

I want to understand you got brows and color for $45.00 where do you live?
Around here in DC and its suburbs brows run $18–$25.00.

Pontiac, Illinois. . town of about 10000
We have about three kinds of salons.
Single person salons with a regular loyal clientel. (mostly older ladies)
3–5 person "general" salons: these now handle most of the mens
haircuts too now that the barbers are gone. Pricing is reasonable, and
they never lack for customers. They sometimes do brows (and other forms
of waxing) and some nail services on the side. (you often have to make
an appointment for the other services)
The hip and hoity–toity places, they tend to offer newer services
earlier than other salons. they often are noted for their expensive
perms and coloring and the $22 standard mens haricut. yes that's
right. Their staff tends to be younger and the decor and atmosphere
tend to be somewhat self–consciously hip.
There is one dedicated nail place in town. I don't know anything about
their services or even what polish they use.
As for facials, masks and other day spa services, I don't think you
can get them here, nor makeovers. One would probably have to go to
Bloomington/Normal for those services.

I know! We;re invisible.
Very cool little town, I love visiting :)
I wouldn't call Pontiac "cool", picturesque yes. But we don't have any
good shopping, except for Walgreens!

I too was surprised at the price, I was expecting at least $55 total.
My stylist/colorist/shampoo/brow person who is also the owner gave me
a break on the "cut/trim' because she didn't have to do much. A few
snip snips and she was done with that. She doesn't have a pricing
sign now but I belive color is $30 to $35 cuts are $10 – $15 (really
really long hair is a little more) I think the waxing was $10. I
didn't know she did brows till I called to make the appointment and
asked. I asked on the off chance she (or one of her staff) did them,
I was expecting a no answer and was going to ask for recommendation
for a brow place.
I've been going to her at various locations for years. maybe close to
15. She used to teach at a local "beauty school" now closed.that's
where I found her. She knew I was OK with the students working on me
unlike others (the students had to learn somehow) and if there wasn't
a student available she worked on me herself.
She's does a good job on my hair, keeps up to date on her skills, and
she's nice to talk to. Lets just say that I'm not planning on changing
salons unless she retires/quits/moves very far away.
