Who began the toe–tap madness?

ecsquiusmip...@yahoo.es (ecs)
Hi,
I'd like to know who was the first to introduce the fashion of the
"cut toe–tap" shoes (ie: shoes that look rectangular), which began
sometime near 2001, IIRC.
I suppose there _must_ be somebody to blame for this. I mean, I can't
believe that all shoe makers woke up a morning and began making
rectangular shoes. Somebody had to have the idea first.
Also, I'd like to know _who_ had the (even more brilliant) idea of
striking back against rectangular shoes with a closed–umbrella–pointed
toe–tap.
Was it the same designer? Or was it a vengeance of some designer
against another?
I'd like to be given the names of the authors of this fashion, so that
I can add them to my list of personae non grata.
(I'll leave the fun with heels fashion for another time)
Thanks.

Lot longer ago than 2001 – as I recall, my first pair of "high heels"
had that kind of toe, circa the 1966–ish.
As they say, "everything old is new again".
