Cuddle duds

mpam...@aol.comnospam (Mpamber)
I am looking for lightweight thermal underwear for moderate to severe cold.
This would be for short exposures to Illinois/Wisconsin type of winter
temperatures. I see some Cuddle Duds in J C Penney catalog. Have any of you had
any experience with this underwear? Are they worth the price? I see $21 for no
sleeve camisole top and thought that was high. I would like something to wear
under a sweater so I want things that are no show that is why I picked the
sleeveless camisole.

Cuddle Duds are what I sleep in. They are unbelievably silky feeling and
lightweight. I wear them mainly since they don't bunch up on me when I'm
sleeping. They have nice slip under the covers, if that makes any sense.
They are good for a *little* extra warmth, but are by no means thermal. They
are probably only a tad warmer than a tee–shirt, but far more comfortable
for layering since they are lighter and silkier. For real warmth I think
silk underwear is what you are looking for, though the price point is
probably comparable. I love Cuddle Duds, and think they are worth every
penny, but for what you are looking for ymmv.

I did find tank top called tactel, microfiber at TJ Maxx. It is Jockey brand
and cost $4.99 plus tax.
This may not be warm enough, but I do have thermal top for prolonged cold like
a cashmere silk blend long sleeve top. I think it is Wintersilks.
I wanted something a bit more delicate to hide under garments. I do believe I
will use the Jockey top, but if a silk camisole or tank comes my way at a good
price I won't turn it down. It seems like silk is a better way to go. It
doesn't seem to be that much higher than Cuddle duds, but wears better.
I did see Cuddle duds top at TJ Maxx. I forgot price as it wasn't in my size. I
think it was around $20 though so not that much cheaper than the JC Penney
catalog price.

My mom is a huge fan of Cuddle Duds and over the years she has sent me a
bunch of them (it?). I tend to prefer non–synthetic fabrics, however, and
usually wear silk long johns instead. The Cuddle Duds I've had have started
out really nice but they seem to pill rather quickly. If you decide to go
for silk, I can recommend Eddie Bauer and Winter Silks. I'm sure other
a.f.ers can recommend other brands as well. (BTW, if it's really cold, you
might prefer a silk turtleneck, though the regular long johns are crew and V
necks. Eddie Bauer usually has a variety of separates in matching shades.)

Yes. They hold up quite well in the wash, etc. Less expensive
versions aren't as sturdy.

I seen them at Penneys. I loved the way they feel. Very silky. I was about to
buy the turtleneck and pants when my sandal broke so I left the store without
them : (
I went to Target and bought a crew neck and pants. They were the same brand,
less expensive but did not feel as nice as the one at Penneys.
I will be returning to Penneys to purchase the silky version.
Can't wait till it gets cold enough so I can where it!

I was at Big Lots today and they had CuddleDuds for $4.99. If you're
close to one you might try to track some down and try them out.

I don't know if the prices are any better, but I happened to see this

I did go to Big Lots and no luck. The sales lady I talked to said they had them
and they all sold out the first day.
