American Beauty at Kohl's

mkupma...@aol.com (MKUPMAVEN)
I spent some time perusing the new Estee Lauder creation –– American Beauty
cosmetics, Fling makeup, and Good Skin skincare. There are some excellent
products amongst these. Some of my favorites are the American Beauty lipsticks
which are very moist and creamy, the Fling eye shadows which are highly
pigmented and silky in texture, and some of the foundations, powders, and
blushes. I did not look into the skincare much, but the makeup is priced
similarly to MAC and Clinique with department store quality. These cosmetics
were created exclusively for Kohl's and are worth the trip, IMO.
Happy shopping. Enablingly yours,
Barb

Ah, but there remains the 40K question: is the lightest shade of
foundation light enough and not too pink/yellow? :)

I checked this stuff out today, though I didn't do a very thorough job because I
was in a hurry and the SAs were all clumped up around the Good Skin stuff. But
it all looks very nice and I'll definitely return when I can do it justice!
I liked the Sephora–esque setup they had, with testers of everything but open
stock so you can grab what you want. The Flirt stuff looks like it's being
positioned as a MAC knockoff, with the packaging and colors and whatnot. The
lipsticks and glosses were gorgeous, as were the eyeshadows. I loved the blush
colors too, but all the blushes were sparkly/shimmery (as were most of the
eyeshadows) and I'm trying to reserve shimmer for my lips for the most part.
The American Beauty colors were also very pretty with not as much shimmer, but I
didn't have time to really check them out. I noticed some pretty liquid
eyeliners and was tempted even though I don't really use liquid eyeliner. The
plum shade, Grapevine, looked very pretty and the brushes are nice.
I only bought a Flirt Chickstick (sheer lipstick) in Delight, but I'll be back
for more!

I had the chance to check out both of these lines too. I walked away
with:
American Beauty Afternoon Tea e/s duo, a soft shimmery pair of soft
taupes, one darker, the other leaning more toward light beige. I used
the darker shade to smoke out my liner, which was Stila Smudgepot in
Charcoal, and washed the lighter shade lash to brow. I highlighted my
browbones with Lancome Filigree: a nice daytime look.
Flirt! Peek–a–blush in Dapple Apple, a rosy peach with shimmer–– also
using this today. The case, with its slide–open mirror and brush
incuded, is a bit big and elaborate. I'm thinking it's too large to
tote around with me for touch ups. I am pleased with the color though.
Flirt! Plushious Liquid Velvet Lip color in So Naughty, a decently
pigmented berry–red shade that has no discernible glitter or shimmers.
It's completely non–sticky (unlike MAC's various glasses), but thus
it's not particularly long wearing. Pretty color though, and you get a
decent amount.
I wanted some of the American Beauty Lipsticks but they didn't have
the ones I wanted in stock. I played with testers and jotted down the
names Passionate Kisses, Napa Berry, Autumn Kiss, and Golden Violet
for later. The texture of these lipsticks seemed very moisturizing and
I'd love at least one of these colors.
I was enjoying the Flirt eyeshadow in Limoncello, a pearly yellow
green, but I buy that same color over and over again. Somehow I
restrained myself this time!

I went back today and purchased more products. I now have six Flirt shadows,
the American Beauty compact lip duo which has Napa Berry and Golden Violet,
three Flirt blushes, a Flirt sheer lipstick in Femme, and a couple of other
items. This stuff is addicting!

LOL! I'm totally going back tomorrow for more Flirt Chicksticks (sheer
lipsticks). The one I bought yesterday is fabulous – sheer yet pigmented,
shimmery, and the staying power was impressive. And the shade, Delight, works
great with my very pale, warm–toned skin. Plus these things smell and taste like
the MAC lipsticks – sort of vanilla–ish but not overpowering. And only $10!

the font used on the boxes looks somewhat like MAC packaging. and I
liked the box color being the same as the product. what do you thing
about the pricing tho?
