How long to 'grow' a pimple?

I got a sample of a new moisturizer last weekend have used it everyday
for 7 days. Today a zit 'erupted' on my cheek. I noticed something
was 'brewing' there about two days ago. I'm trying to figure out if
the zit is connected to the new moisturizer.
