Restylane/Botox

"Mary" <mahyd...@hotmail.com>
I am considering having this done around my mouth. Is it better to have
this done by a Plastic Surgeon or a Dermatologist or does it really matter.
Thanks

You'd be surprised that in many medical offices, it isn't the plastic surgeon
or other M.D. himself who performs this work but an esthetician on his staff.
Historically, dermatologists have not had much if any hands–on experience with
the skin, and they didn't pick up laser skills as readily as surgeons did. But
the gap has closed, and there's no hard and fast rule who is going to give you
a better result. Some dermatologists, like Dr. Arnold Klein of Beverly Hills,
are superstars who are on the cutting edge. Other dermatologists we know don't
even offer it.
It's an art as much as a science, and our Restylane rep has described a myriad
of injecting techniques that physicians have developed. She notes, only half
jokingly, that there are as many injecting techniques as there are physicians.
I think I'd ask to see some before–and–after photos. But minimize your
expectations. Even on the Restylane website the photos don't show that much
improvement. And you see how quickly John Kerry's Botox has worn off.
Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

Thanks Melinda. I have an appointment with a Derm Aug 5th but may also make
an appointment with a PS too. The appointment with the Derm is with his
"assistant" first.

Mary, did the restylane treatment not turn out the way you thought it
would?
"Mary" <absolutelym...@hotmail.calm>
Yeah, frankly it was just a waste of money. There is a new type of filler
that is supposedly less painful and more effective. The Derm is going to
let me know about it when it comes out.
