Amazon book orders [ot?]

missmuffc...@aol.compute (Kendy)
I have ordered from Amazon a trillion times but this is a first. A gift came to
me yesterday from my family. The books looked used though, the spines had
creasing and everything. What would you do or should I do in this case?

Well, Amazon sells used books also. Are these books new releases by the
authors? Did your parents specify that they wanted the new editions? Maybe
they accidentally clicked on the link for a used book without realizing it?
If that's not the case, they are probably damaged inventory, in which case,
I'd complain to Amazon.

No, they are from Amazon directly because they came all in one shipment. You
can not have one shipment with multiple orders when buying used.

Amazon sells used books but only through other sellers. If it came in an Amazon
box, then it wasn't used. I'd complain to Amazon no matter where it came from
if it was ordered through them. They have outstanding service.

Sometimes books get returned that way unfortunately and gets sent back out.
They shouldn't resell them as brand new tho, it seems that quality control
is lacking. I would send them back for an exchange and cite the reasons
clearly. I once got a book from Powells believing I was getting a
remaindered copy (black mark on edge). Not only did I get the book, I got
love notes and buttery cracker crumbs in with it!!
