Wasn't someone asking about clear purses?

the Wicked Witch <fashionwi...@yahoo.com>
Wasn't someone looking for interesting clear purses? I came across this
on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3445201962&category=45229
However... it is, IMHO, crazy–expensive for something like that! Not my
auction, not affiliated, blah blah, yatta yatta yatta.

I will freely admit I have never heard of ALVIERO MARTINI (as it's
written in the auction description) so I am undoubtedly a Philistine.
Having said that, the clear purse looks like something I could get for
free for joining the History Book Club.

Yeah, that looks awfully expensive for something that is going to look like
shit as soon as it gets slightly dirty or some scratches in the plastic.

Heh. I rather doubt that! I've never heard of it either.

It's not my style, I'll say that, but thanks to WW anyway. It was a Jelly
I was asking about. Appreciate her help.

FWIW I have had one of their (his?) bags for a long time, and I really
love it. But it is not one of the clear bags like in the auction. It's a
large tote with a map design all over it, and leather handles and trim.
The body of the tote is that coated canvas material. I use it a lot for
travel or whenever I need a large bag – which isn't often anymore, these
days.
The label on my tote says Prima Classe and then inside it's stamped with
Alviero Martini and some other stuff (serial number, probably – I never
really examined it too closely, cause it's inside on the lining). I
haven't seen them at too many stores locally, but I got mine in a
Bloomingdale's and IIRC that's the only store I've seen to carry them.
Before I bought mine I actually had no idea what the name of the brand
or designer was and I always referred to them as "map bags". I still
call mine my "map bag" – after all it is the only bag I have with a map
pattern on it so it's apt.
The bags *are* pretty pricey, so that the auction listing says the clear
thing sells for $262 or whatever, is only surprising because that bag
is just clear plastic. IME most of the styles are in the $200 and up
price range.

Heehee!

No prob, I couldn't find the original thread, I just knew I'd seen
something about clear purses. My MIL works retail and has to carry a
clear purse to work. I bet she'd really like that map thing, it's nicer
than what she normally uses. I'd consider getting it for her maybe if it
was like 1/3 the price they're asking, but I'm still boggled at the idea
of $100+ for that!

Okay, now I know what you're talking about, Yes, I've seen those map
bags.

It seemed a lot to me for what it looked like. I'm really not much of a,
oh gosh, I don't even know what to call them and I don't want to offend
anyone, so I'll call "fun or whimsical bags" which should do it ––
anyway, I'm not much of a fun or whimsical bag person as much as I may
admire them on others or as much as they may cheer me when I see them,
and they do cheer me (those cheerful LV bags come to mind as an example
and now the Dooney version). I was mainly thinking of purchasing some
kind of opaque brightly colored jelly kelly as something I could carry on
occasion in the rain or snow/sleet weather and not have to worry about
ruining it. As someone else said, I think a large one would be great for
summer boating excursions.
I'd love to be able to find an opaque patterned jelly kelly (such as a
deep red and gold or silver and blue paisley for the holidays, among tons
of others patterns and color combos I can think of)! Why hasn't anyone
come up with those yet?? Or maybe they have and I haven't been looking in
the right place?

thanks to WW anyway. It was a

You have a good memory! I'd posted that Jimmy Choo had jumped on the
jelly bandwagon but with a clear backpack one. Now they're marketing as
part of his resort wear.

I hear you on that!
