I need fingernails for one night!

aggiebabe1...@yahoo.com (Mary)
I normally have long nails but a week of serious house cleaning dried
them out and they broke off (nubs now). Now I have a special party to
attend and just have to have pretty nails for that night. After that,
I can grow my own out with no problem. I don't even want super long
nails. Just slightly longer than my fingertip is fine.
HELp! I've never had artificial nails. Should I go to a salon and if
so, what kind should I get? I don't want the artificial nails after
the party.
Also, what about some of those "nail tip" kits or artificial nail kits
at the beauty supply store or Sally Hansen nail kits?
Please, share your experience with me.

I would suggest asking around to friends even strangers that have nice
nails...ask them where they go to get their nails done. Ask for "tips" glued
on. They are only temporary. Really they do the least damage, and only last a
few days. Don't be surprised if after a few days some of them pop off. There is
fiberglass or anything artificial accept the glue. Call around and ask. Have
fun at the party!

NO NO NO NO NO!!! A lot of damage will be done and it certainly won't be
worth it for one night.
If you must, go for press–on nails or something.

I had tips put on for a wedding several years back (before MSM and
Biotin) and they looked really nice. However, they came off the next
day when I washed my hair.
THe tips were applied at a salon, and done in "French" style.

A company called Nailene supplies fake nails to "The Sopranos," so they must
know what they're doing...I looked at a sample and they seemed easy to apply
and take off.

This is my experience with nails.....I went through years of trying
everything under the sun to have nice nails, every product, including
paraffin
wax heater, heated mits, cuticle oils and lotions, every nail polish,
base coat and top coat ever made–my nails and cuticles still looked
terrible and my students would even say things like, "Yuk, what's
wrong
with your nails? Or You ought to have a manicure". I was always
ashamed of how they looked. So one day I walked into one of those
nail salons and said, I want a full set. They put tips over my weak
and splitting nails and acrylic over that, then airbrushed a french
manicure. My nails looked so good I could hardly drive home for
staring at them. Now I go every two weeks and have fill–ins.
My nails are always long and polished and my cuticles look great.
I get compliments on my nails everywhere I go–in drive throughs,
in stores when writing a check, and from my students who love
the way I change polish colors all the time. If I have to go get
fill–ins for the rest of my life, I will. Its worth every penny to
me.
