What's wrong with Pantene Pro–V?

hfans...@aol.com (Stila)
I remember reading something a while back that mentioned something about
Pantene Pro–V being bad for your hair. I've been using the complete therapy
conditioner and I love the way it makes me hair feel, but I don't want to
continue using it if it's going to be damaging in the long run. Can anyone
enlighten me? And if it *is* damaging, what is a conditioner that compares to
the complete therapy? Thanks!

Pantene coats my hair. I haven't used it in years. Physique has good
products IMO. The Deep Hydrating conditioner is good.

Not sure if it is bad for your hair persay but since they changed the formula
and went mass–market there is something definitely different and I actually get
scabs and break out when I use the stuff. Does anyone else remember the old
this happens to me as well. I used to use it all the time, even after
the first time it was reformulated. Then after this last reformulation,
I just can't.

I never used the complete therapy, but always liked their hydrating curls
shampoo and conditioner. I use it when it's on sale and never saw any
damage.

I once heard a hairdresser say that she couldn't color someone's hair
because of the silicone build up. A discreet glance over revealed she had
gone overboard –– her hair was shiny and smooth, that's for sure. .... Don't
think it can be easily removed and you just have to wait for it to wear off.
On the other hand, I know plenty of people with long hair that think its a
godsend and they're using it at least every 3 days. I've tried it, and no
surprises, yet another shampoo that gave me an itchy scalp.
Gina.

I think with a majority of products, Pantene is a YMMV product.
Personally, I loath Pantene. Anytime I use the shampoo and
conditioners, it's build up hell for my hair. Drugstore shampoo (used
in a pinch) is L'Oreal and John Frieda. I have the best luck with
professional lines (i.e. L'Oreal Pro Line, Back to Basics, Alterna).
