Fab in the Tube, Feh on Your Lips

Lil...@webtv.net (Lily)
I bought what looked like a gorgeous, plum–rose lipstick by L'Oreal the
other day. (Pink Daiquiri) I know fluorescent lights make true color
hard to see, but it looked perfect for me in daylight, and incandescent
light.
On my lips, it was many shades lighter than it looked in the tube (and
it's not sheer, or a gloss) and the color was more gold hued than blue.
Does anyone remember any particularly disappointing or misleading
lipstick experiences? Are there any brands that you find often
unreliable?

That's how I feel about my Rimmel tube glosses. The colors look great in
the tubes but there's something unnatural about both the color and texture
on my lips.
Sticking with my holy grail lippies: Nars Dolce Vita, Chanel Glossimers in
Blush and Giggle, Stila Shine in Blush,

Not so much a lipstick as a gloss. I tried one of the tube glosses associated
with Revlon's Skinlights line (I can't remember what the glosses were called
offhand). It was *gorgeous* in the tube, but on my lips it was completely
invisible. No pigment whatsoever. And I have non–pigmented lips already, so it's
not like it was just lip colored.

i read somewhere that lip glosses tend to be lighter when you put it on your
lips then they do in the tube. so maybe buy something that is a darker shade in
the tube than you really want and it may help.
