The fall fashion mags are here

"ahmward" <nospam.ahmw...@yahoo.com>
In today's mail I received several catalogues plus my new Vogue. Vogue is
740 pages and the
"last look" page features knock out Prada crocodile boots. This week we've
also received a
556 page In Style, 222 page Allure as well as the September More and Marie
Claire.
I will have three hours in the car this afternoon to begin these and will
try to start some threads
on some of the articles when I'm home.

I got the Allure last week and the Vogue and found them both lovely. I really
liked the Allure this time, and already bought two recommendations (Dove lotion
cleanser and day creme) and was interested in the new "Lipomoist" however
because the recommender of the lipomoist (as one of the "best moisturizers" on
the mkt) was also a developer of the product, I balked at her proprietary
interest.
Also – I think Marie Claire has improved. Their fashion spreads (and those how
to do a look for cheapest/moderate/expensive) are amazing! They actually tempt
me as much as Lucky mag.

I was just mentioning this same topic this morning. I eagerly await that
September Vogue, and am like a vulture until I finally have it in my hands.
While I have already started my fall shopping, (I make more $$ in the summer,
so I tend to shop early for fall things)
I definitely wait to note the trends in the September issues.
I was particularly interested in the Vogue View articles regarding careers in
fashion. It is a wonderful reference for young women starting out in the
business and gives them ideas about some areas they probably never even thought
of. I wouldn't mind Julie Gilhart's job as Retail Fashion Director for
Barney's!
I'm savoring this issue and am only up to page 404, lol. Only 336 pages left
for the weekend.

I'm enjoying my Sept In Style well enough. I like to go through the ads
slowly in the Sept mags. The LV black monogram ad really caught my eye.

I'm still pissy because my September Vogue isn't here yet. this happened
last year too so I think we have a fashion conscious thief at the local
post office.

The magazine has 740 pages and some are starting to come out. I've read the
first 400. There are great
short articles about women in fashion. I especially liked the ones about
Stella McCartney and Pat McGrath.
When Kevin Aucoin was alive, we often had threads asking who is your
favorite makeup artist. When I
read the article about Pat, it seemed as if everyone who was anyone wanted
to work with her and several
of the top designers were more than willing to share her. I'm reading
almost every article in this issue but
I haven't found many must have items. I am still looking for a pair of knee
high brown leather boots and
am debating between a flat heel and a higher heel.

I just subscribed to Vogue and W. I just wasn't interested in Allure, Jane,
Glamour. They become so redundant.

Well, we get a number of magazines, Fitness, More, People (I am sure I am
forgetting some) and then all of Peter's business magazines and all my kids'
magazines too.

Makeup, it takes believing in. Like a magic carpet, it's
belief that makes it fly. Otherwise, it's just a rug. If
you believe in it, makeup has a magic all it's own. Of
course, makeup is only dime–store magic. But it works well
enough, when it's used properly.", the makeup artist, from
