In another thread, Vicki asked what we thought of palettes. Well, to be
honest, without going to check them, I can't even remember which ones I
own, and since I'm to lazy to get up and go check, I thought that instead,
I would design my perfect palette.
My perfect palette would be small enough to carry in my purse––bigger than
the UD face cases, but smaller than Nars's. The Christian Dior one I
bought on duty free would be perfect, if only I liked the colors better.
This is something I'd bring on trips, to the gym to use after a workout,
and keep in my purse pretty much all the time. Six inches square and half
an inch thick would do it, I think.
First of all, the lid must be a mirror.
Second, it must include a pan version of a stick
foundation/concealor. Mine would be Chanetecaille in Vanilla
Third, it must include a pan version of a stick blush. Nars Malibu would
be great.
Three powder eyeshadows would do it; a yellow or cream as a base, a dark
shade for lining, and a medium shimmery or glittery shade for evening. Say
Jane Dream Cream, Jane Twilight Zone, and UD Polyester Bride or Asphyxia
or Midnight Cowboy.
A cake of transparent powder.
A well that would include a GWP sized mascara, an eyebrow/lining pencil
like Clinique's taupe, a lip pencil like Prestige Angora.
Another well with small brushes: lip, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and powder.
A separate area for some lip colors: a true red, a pinky brown, something
shimmery and pinky and sparkly, and maybe one other––a berry shade.
That would be all I would need.
So what am I doing with these train cases filled with crappe????

More lines should sell their stuff in pans. Then we can cobble together the
stuff we like into a magnetic palette case. I love my Trish magnetic ones
with inside mirrors. I have them in two sizes.

What a great concept!
It probably sounds crazy, but mine would have:
A flip–up mirror lid
1. A flat square refillable plastic bottle of my usual foundation that
would snap into the palette
2. A smaller flat square bottle of darker foundation in case one needed to
mix if one had been out in the sun the day before...
3. Pressed powder with a snap–on cover and place for applicator beside it.
4. Three powder blushes: pink, mauve & burgundy with place for brush
5. Shadows: charcoal, mauve, violet, silver, gold
6. Coming out of one bottom side of case: burgundy, mauve and pink
lipsticks – screw–in so they wouldn't fall out – also concealer stick
7. Coming out of other side of bottom – screw–out black mascara ; black &
purple eye pencils with little sharpeners way inside.
It would sure look strange, but I'd buy it!!!

So would I. I really like the idea of pop–out refillable containers for
liquids.
One thing I'm vehement about in my design is that the cream and powder
makeups stay separated. I love my UD face cases, but I don't like the way
the eyeshadows get into the lip and cheek products.

Switch the blushes in the Lust for Life kit into the
Skin Deep kit and I'd have my perfect palette.
OTOH it gives me an excuse to have more.
I have a thing for Nars palettes; no other line lures me
with so seductive a siren song.

I've switched the blushes in Nars palettes by heating the bottom of the case
with the hair dryer and prying out the blush pan with an Xacto knife. It's a
slow process and I had to make sure the glue was softened by the heat as I
pushed the pan out –– but it worked.
I would love a Nars palette with
eyeshadows: All About Eve duo from Skin Deep and a concealer instead of
Blondie
blushes: Amour and Outlaw
lipsticks: Mongolian Red, Nouba, Dolce Vita
and modified to fit a few small brushes and a Glossimer mini in Unity

LOL, a thread after my own heart (but of course!)
My perfect palette would be small enough to carry in my purse––bigger than
the UD face cases, but smaller than Nars's. The Christian Dior one I
bought on duty free would be perfect, if only I liked the colors better.
This is something I'd bring on trips, to the gym to use after a workout,

an inch thick would do it, I think.
First of all, the lid must be a mirror.
Second, it must include a pan version of a stick
foundation/concealor. Mine would be Chanetecaille in Vanilla
Ditto to all of this but mine would have Sisley tinted moisturizer in
natural as the foundation. This doubles as concealer for me.
Third, it must include a pan version of a stick blush. Nars Malibu would
be great.
I think my choice would also be a NARS multiple but Mauritius since
it's a bit redder and deeper than Malibu.
I would go with 4 cream colors of eyeshadow and would probably bring
back the defunct Benefit Scrapin' the Rail, plus creme versions of
Stila Jade, MUFE Starpowder 919, still my fave plum shade, and Stila
Diamond Lil.
A cake of transparent powder.
Definitely. I'd use it to set the creme shadows as well as the usual
touching up/blotting. YMMV, but creme shadows stay put on me if I have
a powdery base.
A well that would include a GWP sized mascara, an eyebrow/lining pencil
like Clinique's taupe, a lip pencil like Prestige Angora.
No mascara but yes to the pencils and mine would probably be an eye
crayon in a deep shimmery blue like NARS Night Flight, and a lip
crayon in a Prestige Angora–type shade.
Another well with small brushes: lip, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and powder.
I'd just use full size brushes and keep in a separate container.
Sure, it would defeat the purpose of having it all in one palette but
I have never, ever had good enough luck with these little brushes.
A separate area for some lip colors: a true red, a pinky brown, something
shimmery and pinky and sparkly, and maybe one other––a berry shade.
Eeek. If I had to pick just 4 colors; a true red, a NARS Dolce
Vita–esque shade, a Black Honey like shade and a warm champagne
highlighter, perhaps NARS Copacabana to give these colors some oomph.
That would give me yet another eye and cheek color option too.

My perfect palette would have the following:
– a *lighted* mirror under the lid
– a tiny pan of concealer, idealy CG Aquasmooth in Ivory since that's what I'm
using these days
– a pan of powder foundation – since this is a fantasy, I'll go with Olay
Complete Radiance in Fair Honey
– a pan of NARS Orgasm blush
– pans of Jane Eye Zings in Rock Star, Mythology, Browny Points, Purple Heart
and Magical Mushroom
– a pan of Clinique Touch Base in Canvas
– lip pans would hold MAC Fresh Moroccan, Clinique Sheer Spice, WTF Glamour
Puss, and Sonia Kashuk Magic
– tubes of Kiss Me mascara in Black and Brown would slide into the base of the
palette
– a separate compartment would hold a brow brush, a large e/s brush, a blush
brush and a lip brush, along with a sponge for the foundation
Also, my palette would have optional matching cases for other brushes, an
eyelash curler, etc. that would attach to the main palette somehow (with velcro,
maybe?)
