A Byer nude colored 3/4 inch sleeved top at Ross––so cool!
Pair of Sam & Libby ballet/mary jane style leather flats. These are truly
great––just like wearing my ballet shoes, only these have a sole.
A wrought iron pillar candle stand, and a pillar candle to go with. The candle
is made by "Capri" and the fragrance is honeysuckle. Yummy! The candle came
with a round coin medallion with the name "Capri" on it. I made a necklace out
of it when I got home. Therefore, I got an extra little bonus with my candle
purchase.
I got all of these items at Ross for a grand total of $35.35. You can't beat
that!

It's fashionable... you have to have gasoline to get to the mall.
$1.639 a gallon in Houston. How much per gallon is your trip to the
mall? My parents report $1.669 a gallon just outside Kansas City.
MRAL...@webtv.net (Al Burnham)
Nothing! The gas costs $1.839, round trip to the nearest mall is 80
miles at 20mpg resulting in expense of $7.35 and local sales tax on
clothing is 7.75% on every dollar. Local lawn sales are the best bet
and have found some great makeovers including a genuine sheepskin coat
for $10. Northern NY has it bad. Thanks for sharing.

Sophie, is it the Simply Basic, in a white round bottle with a purple top? If
that's it, it's the one with the no spill cap that I love –– in fact, I have a
bottle sitting right here on my desk. It doesn't smell great –– what np remover
does? –– but it's cheap, effective, and the no spill cap is fairly excellent.

You should live here, gas is $2.29 a gallon, the nearest mall is 90+ miles
*one way* and local "yard sales" have nothing but children's clothing.

I took my lemming self to tarjay and got trilby's leather jacket, plus a cute
pair of brown square–pointy toed mules to take me into fall when i must retire
my open toe brown sandals with the leather flower.
The new More and the new trashy In Touch magazine, which has a good little 6
photo spread on stars who dress young and look appropriate (Kim Cattrall,
Heather Locklear and Sheryl Crow) and inappropriately
(Goldie, Paula Abdul and Bernadette Peters)
and another little blip on aging gracefully, and which makes me LOVE all the
women quoted (Holly Hunter, Susan Sarandon, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis
and most of all, Frances McDormand) these women rock.

Frances McDormand is God(dess). I want to be her when I grow up.

Stopped at Sephora since, when posting my August Hits and Misses, I
realized that I must be woefully behind on cosmetic purchases :)
A Rocket City wand gloss in Slick
Philosophy Gingerbread Man body scrub
the new Pink Sugar fragrance (will review later)
Clean Fun roll–on perfume (nothing like the Clean and Clean Sweet Layer
scents, which I don't love). Will review this too.

At Aerosoles.com: black leather loafers with 2 1/4 inch heels and lug soles
(Lugg of War). They'll be perfect for work when I'm going to be doing a lot of
walking.
Heads up: There are a lot of really nice and comfortable looking shoes on the
Aerosoles website and in the fall catalog.
At Tarjay: Mossimo stretch cargo jeans
(They look good, fit perfectly and the price is fantastic. All they need is a
hem.)

Stopped by Nordstrom Rack on my way home from dinner.
– Elie tahari pink stretch cotton long sleeve dress shirt w/ mandarin collar
and buttons down to the bellybutton. It's accented w/ spread out stitches
at all the seams in a matching thread. I haven't decided whether or not to
keep this b/c it's a lovely shade of pink and will work for the office, and
yet isn't quite flattering enough.
– maroon mavi stretch cord pants. Need to be hemmed, but I've been wanting
a pair of deep red cord pants.
– a backup pair of my favorite mary janes: Merrell black suede slip on
backless mary janes.

Also, there's nothing to buy....
Northern NY has it bad.
Try West Texas... the gas is cheaper but the trip is undoubtedly
longer unless you're in one of the cities (which have surprisingly
good shopping as they get people from 50–75 miles in all directions).
Depending on local rates, the sales tax may or may not be higher.

There's three types of gasoline out there:
Normal – what you get in low–pollution areas
Reformulated (RFG) – what you get in Houston
California reformulated (CARB/CARBOB)
Not everyone is set up to make California reformulated.
We have lots of oil here, in the ground.
