Re: La Roche Posay Anthelios sunscreen

I bought this after reading raves in both Allure and Vogue magazine. Mine
was ordered through zitomer.com, and although it arrived rather quickly, I
haven't yet had the chance to try it.
I went on a bit of a sunscreen binge and bought 2 more tubes of my staple La
Mer The SPF 18 Fluid, then the Anthelios, and then the Caudalie Vinefit. I
will post once I get a chance to try them all!

Has anyone tried this? It has Mexoryl and titanium dioxide. Does it leave
a
whitish cast on the skin? I thought I had read somewhere that it didn't.
TIA!

I just got the Anthelios L (not XL) from a friend of mine who lives in
Toronto. The L also has Parsol 1789, though I don't remember if the
XL has it or not. You can do a Google search since I believe af'ers
have mentioned one or 2 Canadian pharmacies that will ship to the US.
I've only tried it a couple times so far but it does adsorb well
enough that it doesn't leave behind a whitish cast. It doesn't have a
dry finish like DDF or Neutrogena's dry touch, but I was sorta
expecting that.
The ingredient list is as follows: 4–methoylbenzylidene camphor 5%,
titanium oxide 4%, butyl methoxyydibenzomethane (Parsol 1789) 3.5%,
terephthalylidene dicamphor sulfonic acid (Mexoryl SX) 3.3%

I have both the Canadian (Mexoryl L) and French (Mexoryl XL) Anthelios
formulas and neither leave a white cast on skin. They are not dry formulas
though.
Have you tried Clinique's Super City Sunblock SPF 25? No chemical
sunscreens, only 8.8% titanium dioxide (not micronized).Sheer slight tint
(not white).
Shiseido has an Ultimate Sunblock of SPF 50 that doesn't leave a white cast
and has no chemical sunscreens. Not sure if physical sunscreens are
micronized though. Not as greasy as the Anthelios.
Good luck!

I think I've used Clinique City Block in the past, and it's nice, but really
expensive considering the small amount in a tube. Isn't the Shiseido the same
way? Like, 1 oz. or something is all you get?
Thanks so much for the suggestion though on these. I'll definitely keep them in
mind for the future.

You're right. They are pricey. I keep these for my face and use something
else for the body.

This is my holy grail of sunscreens. I have two tubes in stock. I am
currently using the SPF60 one with Merxoyl XL.
I like this because it protects well, has not whitish cast, creamy
enough to allow me to go without moisturizer in the morning, and yet
not too oily to disallow my skin to absorb it. My skin loves this!
And if there's any difference, then I got mine from France, so this is
the French version.

I have this, and it is excellent, not it is *not* free of chemical
sunscreens. It has zinc oxide *in addition to* one or more (I don't
have it in front of me and I don't recall the ingredients exactly)
chemical screen(s).
The Ultimate SPF50 is very effective and feels pretty light on the
skin. I think I still prefer Anessa by a narrow margin, but if you
don't have access to Anessa (I get mine from Strawberrynet), then the
Ultimate sunblock is a great alternative IMHO. However, both do have
chemical sunscreens, if that's a concern.
