Re: Beauty Confessions

pearl <pe...@texas.net>
I don't remove makeup before bed. Not even mascara/eye liner. My poor
husband! Luckily I wake up before him most days, but not always.
I need to get out of my brown/taupe eye shadow rut, but I:
– keep buying more brown/taupe shades
– keep putting off signing up for a makeup class
I put off getting my hair trimmed, because I'm trying to grow it out, and
I know it's starting to show...
I usually apply lipstick in the morning, but never bother to reapply it
My skin is uber oily, and I have blotting sheets, but don't use them.
I'm a packrat –– I don't throw out makeup even if I don't use it, because
I *might* use it some day. Some of it isn't swap–worthy..
I really need to do a different hair style, but have been wearing
basically the same one for 10 years now. My stylist cuts my hair & styles
it nicely at the salon, I just can't seem to do it, or anything
differently, myself.
Boo, now I feel bad :) We need a "What beauty things do you do *right*"
thread!

OMG this is SO me! I have a huge pile o'crap on my desk yet I use the same
items over and over. Some things I've had for years w/o even opening them,
yet I get filled with panic at the thought of tossing stuff that I might
need down the road. Same with clothes and other stuff I packrat too so I
know I have "issues"...but I'm working on it!

Pearl, I used to do this, too, until my Mom twisted my arm to go for a
makeover. Turns out, it was fun! Now, I'm totally hooked on the whole
makeup thing and dispense advice to my Mom! Believe me, if I could
change, you can, too, so sign up for that class *pronto*.

You may have more success with something like MAC blot powder. I find
myself using this more than I do my blot papers. It's a compact, so
when you whip it out to blot your face, you can check your lipstick at
the same time. It worked for me this past weekend when I attended a
5–hour outdoor meeting in hot, humid weather. I blotted and reapplied
lipstick the whole time, and it worked really well.

–I hardly wash my face before going to bed.
–I don't cut my hair regularly.
–I usually just wear mascara.
–I buy makeup like it's going out of style, then can't part with it. (UD Face
Cases)
–I don't wear sunscreen because I usually break out from it (even though the UV
index is at 8 today). I rationalize this by saying I don't leave buildings
during the summer.
–I don't exercise.
I'm baaaad.

*I'm a picker and a popper.
*I cut my cuticles (its that or picking at them and making them worse)
*I don't exercise as much as I should.
*I am not as diligent about putting on SPF as I used to be.
*Don't shave above the knee (don't really need to).
*Have makeup that is very old, but I won't throw away...I call it
rotating...I get sick of something and then find something new in my
stash...
*Slap a hat on my head when I don't feel like doing my hair.
