Hair dye help!

r...@datanerds.net (digitsix)
My girlfriend has brownish blonde hair naturally but she has been
dying it dark red for a while now... Anyway, today she bought this
loreal fierre (or something) bleaching kit. her hair had grown in
about an inch or so since the last time she died it so the roots were
her natural color.
After she bleached it the roots were bleach blonde, however, the rest
of her hair (where it was red) is now a bright orange color. Needless
to say, shes very upset about it and Im trying to find her a way to
fix it. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Rick

here's a suggestion:
go to a professional colourist and have him/her fix it before
your friend messes up her hair any more than she already has.
natural hair colour bleaches (and colours) much more readily than
does hair that's already been colour–treated. your friend
obviously didn't know this (i'm not saying it's a bad thing – it
just seems to be the way it is), and this is why she got the
results that she did.
i am an aspiring colourist and it is my opinion that your friend
will only achieve the results she wants (especially at this
point) if she goes to see a professional.

I would agree that the best thing to do is see a professional at this point.
My experience is that if you want to change the color of color–treated hair,
you have to strip it, or remove the first color before applying the new one.
I am not a professional colorist, just someone who has been in her situation
before. I do well coloring at home, as long as I stick to the same color.
